"Dedric, I have business in Diagon Alley today. As the children will be with my sister's husband boarding the train in London, the whole of the house will be to yourself," Rosalind Evans informed her husband whom was sitting at his desk in the study, and staring out the window with no such expression to define. Rose frowned when he did not even acknowledge what she had said. One would think that she would have been used to the inattentiveness and the silences of her husband by now, but unfortunately, she would never be used it. She still recollected the memories of when Dedric would show up at her parent's doorstep, roses in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other with the willing inclination to confess to her how beautiful she was and how it would be a pleasure if he could make her his bride. That all, however, came to a pause once they were married and "The Seven" became their top priority. Dedric spoke less in the beginning, and after a daughter born and a nephew disguised and adopted, scarcely spoke at all and became neglectful of his Seven duties which was why he was not in the know of her business with certain Seven members, Anthony Mirabeau and Zilius Zebo.
Sighing at his lack of response, Rosalind turned to waltz out of the study when her husband's voice spoke unexpectedly behind her, in a raspy, unused tone, "You know, what your sister, yourself, and your parents have done to Johnny was cruel. He had a doting family of which cared for him deeply. Siblings whom would not mind in the least of another playmate. While I am glad that my Penny has not been lonely these few years, I still wish Johnny would have had the chance to grow up with his family. Everyone knows that Penny would be the one in your family whom would join when she became of age, so why Veronica? Just why, Rose?"
As Rose was paused in the doorway, her hand on the knob with the intention of strolling out of the room without answering her husband, but instead, she turned her head towards him, her ice blue eyes boring into his own hazel ones, as she said, "Because Veronica, unlike our Penelope, actually has a chance at surviving. I do not believe in the strength of our daughter, Dedric. If you remember, she was never supposed to be born, but she was. Why do I think she was born? Because she was always meant to be a pawn for your grandfather and nothing more. I love my daughter, but that is what I believe. The news that it was impossible for me to get ever get impregnated those thirteen years ago was hard, but it is still harder to know that I have birthed a child that was not meant to be brought into the world."
With that, Rose whipped her head back around to face the oakwood door, threw it open and took leave of the room with her head held high, but reeling with thoughts. Once she was past the front gates to her grand home, Rose set her thoughts aside and concentrated on apparating to Diagon Alley with the intention of greeting Tony and Zebo at its entrance.
Anthony Charles Mirabeau
Tony told Nora that he would meet her at Hogwarts as he kissed her cheek. Seeing the disapproval on his wife’s face, he had cut his goodbye short. He knew that Grethen already thought that their daughter Nora was too soft. She had even told him that if he kept baby her that she would send Nora to stay with Khalid. Grethen had even forbid him to have any contact with Bridge. Tony was worried that Grethen still hated Bridge for marry Tom.
Now as he walked to Diagon Alley, Tony started thinking about how things had went so wrong in his marriage. He had never really loved Grethen and she had known it from day one. Their marriage had been purely business. She had needed her family off her back about her love life and he needed her family’s connections in the Ministry. That had not stopped them from having a little fun before or even after the marriage.
He had found out about her birth father at the wedding and had hid the truth from her until the birth of Nora. At the time, he had looked up to Khalid and thought that the man could do no wrong. Anthony had done everything that his father-in-law had asked without question until one year ago. It had been hinted that the Leader of the Seven had been having his doubts as to Khalid’s real plans concerning certain things.
Tony had trusted that Khalid’s plans had been approved of by Mr. Marsden. That had not been so as Tony found out when he made his first report. He had also found out that he had been considered a Seven from the moment he had taken the oath and not just Khalid’s son-in-law.
Thinking back, Tony realized that some of Khalid’s relations had been able to do in a matter of a couple of hours what Khalid’s planning had not been able to do in three years. He had know that Rose had hated Khalid and had told her at the beginning of July about Mr. Marsden’s displeasure in Khalid. He already had Zilius as they had been best friends at Hogwarts together. Tony had told them both about how Khalid’s plans to get a hold of the young Egyptian princess had failed.
They had spent almost two months on a plan that would succeed where Khalid’s had failed. It would be a dry run. She would be taken along with her best friend Miranda. Khalid had also not been able to get Tia to open her brother’s chessboard so that anything connecting to the Seven could be removed. That became their goal to get that board opened. The other stuff would be icing on the cake. The Ministry, Tia’s protectors and Khalid would finally be shown for the fools they were.
Looking at where Rose stood, Anthony smiled as he thought, We also found out how much Marcus had told his baby sister. Instead of tearing the Allies away from Tia, Khalid you should have let Val use them. He just hoped that Val would make the right choice when the time came.
With a sly grin, he said coolly, “Hey Rosa, revenge is sweet isn’t it? Zilius will meet us at the café.”

Revenge, Rose thought maliciously as her gaze met those of Anthony Mirabeau’s, never satisfies. Its only outcome is guilt; a never ending emotion. But of course, Rose kept her lips sealed together as she recalled her foolishness in the beginning of her Dark Arts career when she thought of Tony Mirabeau as ‘a handsome bloke’. Her eldest sibling, Susan, had actually begun to plan their matrimonial ceremony. Of course, it was proof that foolishness existed in the young, and not everything occurred as they thought they would. Susan became infatuated with a muggle-born man of which everyone deemed was hardly her equal, but who was anyone to restrict stubborn Susanna Evans from the object of her desires? Her only elder brother, Ean, traipsed off after his seventh year of education to Russia where no one heard from him since his motivations of taking up the position of the Astronomy professor at Hogwarts. Of course, as Ean had always done, he never returned to his current occupation the next year and was now in some other foreign country. Some say he had travelled to America, but Rose does not believe this rumor.
“Of course,” Rose answered the man back, her ice blue eyes stony and piercing. Herself and Mirabeau could hardly be defined as “friends”, but rather seen more like “partners in crime”. Of course, their strained acquaintance could have stemmed from the awkward moment of when Susan sealed (with a powerful locking charm) the both of them into a dim lighted room together. Rose recalled the day very clearly in her memory. She kept biting her lip nervously as no words were exchanged between them until she unexpectedly heard his next words, “You are not happy with him…” Rose had yearned to retort “well, who am I happy with, then?”, but she kept her lips sealed as she attempted to conceal the tears threatening to come forth. Anthony was absolutely correct. Rose had not been happy then. Her accidental child had been born just recently, and as this child’s mother she was more than saddened to admit that Penelope was never meant to live. Now what mother comes to this conclusion when a miracle happens such as a is child born? Certainly not her sister with her two sons and daughter.
“Mirabeau,” she started quietly, unused to addressing him when not in the presence of the rest of the Seven group, “I just want to apologize for the behavior of which my daughter has acted towards yours. I would give some remark of how Penny is usually a sweet tempered girl, but as we both know, this fact is unfortunately false. I am sure Nora was attempting to make amends after their disastrous meeting all those years ago. Do you remember it?” Rose suppressed her laughter as she gazed up at Mirabeau with mirth in her eyes as she awaited his response.
Anthony Charles Mirabeau
Tony watched Rose and knew that something was bothering her. To most people, Rose's answer would be taken as a yes; but Anthony was not most people. He probably knew Rose better than even her own family. Her family was the reason he had proposed to Grethen instead of her. More importantly her mother, had forbid him to see her. The mother wanted Rose to marry into Khalid's family and pushed for Rose to get with Dedric, Khalid's grandson. Anthony figured that the reason was a simple one. The woman knew that Khalid was close to Mr. Marsden and held great power in the Seven. Tony could not fault the woman as he also was marrying for power. The problem with Rose's mother was that she never did anything herself. The woman wanted the rewards without the blood being on her hands.
Tony remembered the day that Susan had come to him with news that Rose was expecting. Susan was the only one of the family that knew that Rose and he had been seeing each other. Thinking back at how Sue had helped to conceal the fact from Mrs. Evans, Tony smiled. When Sue told him, that her mother was using the pregnancy to force Khalid to pressure Dedric to marry Rose, Tony blew up. Susan calmed him down and told him she had a plan. The only thing that Sue wanted in return was to know if Tony really loved her sister or was he just using her. Tony had never been so torn as he was that day. He knew that he had a soul connection with Rose that he had never felt even with Bridge. Angrily he told Susan so. He thought that she would think he was lying but she had smiled and told him to leave everything to her.
Looking sad as he remembered that things had not gone the way him or Sue had wanted. Tony tried to think about how it had fell apart. Susan had locked Tony and Rose in a tiny room so he could talk to her. He began by saying that she wasn't happy with Dedric. She had asked then who made her happy. Tony was praying that he had and foolishly said so. He wondered if she had known how much it hurt that she didn't even want the baby. The anger he had felt came out as he said some things that he had not meant.
Tony now watched the woman that he never got over. Was she to thinking back to that day, Tony wondered. He was still trying to answer the question that he had that night.
Anthony asked quietly, "Rose what is wrong? It can't be that you are having second thoughts about showing Mr. Marsden that Khalid is not worthy of his rank? You hate him more than I do. So what is it?"
"You use to call me Tony, Rose remember.", Tony said as he wondered again about what was bothering her. As he listened, he understood.
Taking her hand in his as he said, "Yes, I do remember. Nora back then had only wanted to please Gretchen." Gretchen had hated Penny from the start. Anthony remembered that day as if it was yesterday. Tony had been asked by Susan, who had still believed in love, to come over. Susan had then told him what the doctors had said to Rose and why Rose had acted the way she did about Penny. Tony had realized what a fool he had been. Gretchen had not been happy that Tony had asked Rose to forgive him. The next thing Tony saw was a smile on Grethen's face as Nora made Penny disappear. When Anthony had asked Nora later, why she had sent Penny away; his daughter had cried and said that mommy had said that the baby needed to go away or he would. Anthony told Nora that was no true. What had come next from Nora had him wondering about how far Gretchen would go to keep him.
Tony thought that it was time that Rose answered the question that Tony was going to ask that day. With a heavy sigh, Tony started by saying, "Rose, do you remember that I had said I had to ask you something? Then the incident happened with Nora and Penny. Well I still want to know." This was not coming out right as Tony wondered why it was so hard to ask. Because if she hadn't slept with Dedric then there would have been no doubts about who was the father., Tony thought sadly as he remembered back to Gretchen's smug look as she told Khalid that Rose and Dedric were not worthy of raising his heir as they would only raise Penny to be as weak as they were. Weak was not what Dedric was by any means, Tony knew. Something had happened that cause the man to became the man he was. There had been a time that Tony felt guilty for the affair as he truly thought of the man as a friend.
Susan had told him right before she had asked Tony if it was really love that he felt for Rose, that her sister confided everything to her. Tony felt sure that Rose would stay with Dedric to please her mother. It was past time for the truth. Tony would then decide how to pay Gretchen back. If what his daughter had told him is true, then Gretchen would finally see a side of him that he had reserved only for his parents.
"Are you sure that Penny is...", Tony asked but seeing Zebo coming with somebody he stopped. Luckily Tony was blocked from the view of the other man.
"Rose, Zebo is coming.", Tony said disappointingly as he thought about teaching Zebo about his idea of timing.

A slight shiver of pleasure ran through Rose’s being as Tony firmly grasped her hand in his own. She and Tony often had those tender moments and it only magnified her regret for having not refused Dedric’s proposal for her own happiness. Rose kept her face forward as she glowered to nothing in particular. Gretchen… The woman definitely needed to be taught a lesson to refrain from using one’s child for her own gains. Then she gave a sorrowful sigh. “I suppose I am correct when I say that Nora had been pleasing Gretchen for the wrong reasons?” Then under her breath, she muttered quietly, “When will she ever learn? Such a silly question! She will never learn!”
Rose yearned to lean her head against his shoulder and let out all her fears and concerns, but she resisted the urge and attempted to keep her face expressionless. She could not display the strong emotions she felt for Tony. It would just not be right. She was a married woman whom was faithful to her husband! Well, perhaps only faithful and honest to an extent. Dedric does not have the knowledge that her daughter was not his child. Perhaps that was the reason for his strange and abnormal behavior of late? Had he realized that his own child was not even his? Fear gripped Rose’s insides as she reluctantly slid her hand out of Tony’s pleasurable grasp.
Rose avoided Tony’s eyes as she gazed out upon the little shops and businesses scattered about Diagon Alley. While she was more than certain of her daughter’s parentage she refused to acknowledge it. Having always been the less favored daughter of her parents, Rose was determined to make her parents proud after her sister had eloped with a muggle-born man. In the beginning, she had attempted to reason with herself that perhaps Penny was meant to be born. Perhaps Penny was the daughter of Dedric instead of Anthony, though highly unlikely this statement was. But there was a lurking nagging at the back of her mind which spoke to her that Dedric was not her child’s father and she had finally came to terms with this information only just recently. Refusing to answer Tony’s cautious inquiry, Rose continued to hold her head high and her faraway gaze unwavering.
Briefly glancing at him from the crevice of her eye, Rose still refused to answer him truthfully as she spoke in a low tone, “This is hardly conversation for the task at hand, Mirabeau. Best not to get distracted, hmmm? Besides, I am not positive, and nor will I ever be.” With that, she strolled purposely towards the familiar man and his acquaintance with a forced sort of polite smirk. "Gentlemen," she greeted.
