Preparations first phase (Zhilon Wei, Khalid)(Unfinished)(Mystery Island)
(OOC: combined threads from the previous site)
Zhilan Wei
She had avoided her hunch all this time and no matter how many times she went to that forbidden place and received the same answer the more she worried dreadfully. And her friend Tarik oh Tarik, what would he say if he knew she was taking this trip? What would he say if he knew about every trip, or about his friend Dempsey? That name, Dempsey in itself urged a lump in her throat to rise and her breathing to stutter as tears tried to force their way free. Was it true that the Dark One had overrun the mysterious isles? Had Dempsey blown his cover, was he dead somewhere in that forbidden place.
Zhilan barely knew him, but what she remembered of Dempsey was that he was very charming and well spoken. A man who bent over backwards for those he considered as friends. Who stood by his word and Zhilan respected that. Like Fai, Zhilan could tell he carried a dark and unrepentant past but Dempsey had a good heart. He believed in honoring what was right and would take whatever side that man believed held the greater good for the people he served.
Did Fai believe in good? Did Fai really have the greater purpose in mind when he killed all those people? What of the many massacres left in the Wake of the Red Dragon Triad that still stain portions of Hong Kong’s streets red? Or was Fai acting on his honor?
She half cried half chuckled. Fai’s attack on Baijing itself was too gutsy and purposed driven to be conceived from a purely evil heart. It was like yesterday that she remembered the most notorious criminal attack in Chinese history. Well-armed highly combat trained strike teams targeted the Great Hall of the People, destroying property and killing soldiers until the army arrived. That’s when it appeared like a game cat and mouse that lead away from the original target the trap sprung. But that was not the most embarrassing for the muggle power. Another separate from the main attack force ransacked a the local prison and rescued over a hundred red Dragon inmates. The death toll on both was considered staggering for China but no official release was ever given.
She remembered the report as if it was still in her hand. “The government’s firm grip over social order has been pried apart by the elusive and deadly Red Dragon Triad. This proves even more conclusively that the bloodthirsty Fai Sung, ghost of Tibet and leader of the criminal Red Dragon Syndicate is more of a threat than our leaders care to acknowledge.”
That was right, that was why she could never forget him. He was the ghost of Tibetan warriors raised up like an avatar to bring justice against the occupiers. Her uncle had told her not to believe the Ministry about Fai but the evidence was too overwhelming. Yet, that was not the Fai she knew. He was loving, intelligent, thoughtful, considerate and ever dreaming of conquering impossible challenges. Fai was the enforcer of justice with honor has his conscience. Their shared dream of finding the sacred Zen and settling in harmony were not the crazy musings of a maniac. They were too real as if he had already been there. Their faith combined faith too strong to harbor a lunatic.
However, muggle authorities received information from a mysterious source about one of Fai’s aliases and a skyscraper penthouse that obtained none other than Fai Sung. The tears ran steady down Zhilan’s cheeks and even his aspiration couldn’t dry them away. China held nothing back, and launched a full scale military attack headed by the ruthless, Elite Red Guard. Still Fai escaped and not one member of his organization had been captured.
Zhilan shook as she realized that her destination swiftly approached. After all the horrible things she heard nothing broke her heart more than the gory torture chamber uncovered by the muggles. The Chinese Ministry made it very clear that even unlearned in magic, Fai’s ability to grasp at the power of his birth right abilities was far greater than any other, untrained. The torture techniques alone were chi focused and perfected. No one in Fai’s organization could have performed such natural ability with flawless precision unless trained by the ministry itself.
She arrived where she intended and felt the cool moist breeze as the air flowed off the waters. She was at Khalid’s for possible the last time. Every time was the last time, but this time Zhilan had a plan. And hoped Khalid would find it in his heart to grant her request, or at least place her in touch with someone who could. She approached the steps and gracefully climbed to the door. As was the normal greeting since Dempsey disappeared the door opened before she could knock. Zhilan entered and found the old Egyptian seated in the foyer fingers entwined with what appeared to be the expression of pleasure, yet just short of a grin.
Khalid Onaris
Khalid had really started to be worried for Dempsey as his sources had found to trace of the man. His brother who was blood-brothers with man was even worried or at least that was what his grandson Antonio had said. The fury on Khalid's face at the news of his baby brother's despair at the lost of Horus still had T-bell still at his side. Turning to T-bell as he said, “My baby brother has been delivered a message by the death of his beloved falcon, T-bell? Could it be the Dark One?”
T-bell shook his head as he again calmed the old Medjai. The elf had been sent along with several other by Darik. Darik had realized his godson Khalid's mind had been fractured by the man's dealings with the Dark Sect and their master The Dark One. The one that was to the world known as The Dark Medjai had last year finally begged Darik for help. The Prince of Elves as T-bell thought of Darik had wasted no time and within hours, T-bell and twenty other highly trained elves were in place in different locations on Khalid's travels.
He smiled as he remembered how he had taken an instant liking to T-bell. He wanted the elf to understand this and so had in front of everyone on his island, appointed T-bell to the position of Head Elf of his two thousand elves. There had been only five humans that knew the true reason for T-bell and twenty other elves being there. Those elves got their orders from Darik only as was the agreement that Khalid had made. He could ask but they had the right to refuse.
Worried for his son-in-law Frank Cole, he asked, “Anything new from those you sent with Fixer?” Again Khalid saw a shake of the head as the elf said, “No, but that should not worry you. The less you know of what he is doing, the better. Right?” Khalid had to nod as he realized that for him to know what was order would seal a lot of people's fates.
T-bell went still for a few and then said, “She is back, my lord. Do you wish for me to be hidden once again?”
Khalid shook his head as he said, “No T-bell, Do you have those for the school ready?”
T-bell nodded as he opened the door.
Khalid smiled as he said, “Ah, my beautiful Professor Wei welcome. This is my Head Elf T-bell. What is troubling you my dear? Has something happened to my baby brother Tarik?”
(OCC: For more on T-bell and his true purpose for being there...read “Archived (Jan-June 2013) Family-Ties-Are-The-Hardest-To-Break” T-bell is an Admin Character. Anthony Mirabeau is one of my many characters.)
Zhilan Wei
The Elf beside Khalid did not bother Zhilan, nor did the many she knew had to reside in the area. In fact, she would have been concerned had he or any elf not been nearby, watching waiting, working on something in the benefit of their master, seen or unseen.
However, she had not taken into account he appearance after that mental trauma she placed herself through on the way out. Considering the information she possessed concerning Fai placed the man she loved since they were both but children into questionable status no matter how difficult it was for her to let go of the murderous reputation preceding him in Hong Kong, and all of China. However, how many powerful men sponsored that propaganda condemning Fai as a monster? But the proof, the proof of his deeds outweighed propaganda.
Clutching her hands in front of her like a little girl about to ask a favor of an adult, she realized how pitiful she must appear. Then came a question she had not anticipated being confronted with. Tarik… oh Tarik, and his best feathered friend. To that Zhilan lost eye contact and nearly turned her gaze to the floor in consideration of if she should even mention it to Khalid. After all he was no the evil soulless monster as had been whispered throughout ministry acquaintances. But Tarik had never formally mentioned Khalid as a relative to Zhilan, but was Khalid who named Tarik. Bad blood between brothers’ was no place for an outsider to wander between. However, the nature of the matter was open knowledge in Hogwarts and no secret.
“Um…” Zhilan considered how to approach the delicate matter while protecting herself from backlash. Her eyes fixated on Khalid as she owned her words in truth, however, minimal information. “He suffers loss of a pet, a dear feathered friend. As you know, Tarik and I are friends, and for this reason I have not intruded on him to learn the depth of this. When he is ready, he will speak to the right person to guide him through and prepare him for accepting a new feathered partner to commune with.”
Zhilan considered that she had spoken too much but accepted it for loss and hoped enough to satisfy Khalid’s interest. Though from the look in his eyes she knew that she had only sparked his concern. Nevertheless, she had spoken the truth following the strict self-inflected guidelines determining her own commitment toward personal purity. Considering her plan a thought flashed through her mind stimulating purpose regarding her next words.
“How do you progress in calligraphy? Have the spells I left you aided in translating Aribic and English letters into Hanzi? Today, I without time to expound on any questions you may have but I will consider them and encrypt a message unlockable only through a detailed Hanzi of your definition of so tranquility. Easy, right? Our first lesson.”
From the patient glare in Khalid’s eyes Zhilan knew he expected an explanation for her purpose on his island.
“Did you know Fai while he operated his, um… business in Hong Kong?” Before he could reply Zhilan backpedaled knowing that her question was far too direct to receive an answer.
“At the beginning of this week, and on the day Hogwarts students return from vacation, I was confronted by three individuals. Two of them swear loyalty to Fai, giving him a position of grand master, undefeated and unchallenged. They would sacrifice their lives for Fai. I know my people Khalid.
“However, they were accompanied by a member of an elite specialist group that is unique to the Chinese Ministry. Such as to obtain an authority, with the power to kill based on their ability to see the future potential destinies of an individual. Their death touch is bloodless, and affects only the conscious mind of their target. Though appearing to be in a coma, many mind dives have proven that the bodies are truly empty shells. They are rightly feared, and hated amongst the magical community of China, but their authority is respected because of their ability to kill without repercussion. This is twisted and tied into a nice ministry protection shield covering their identity with perfect anonymity. But she revealed herself, name and purpose as if the other two endorsed her.
“I can tell that those who claim and are loyal followers of Fai regard her with extreme caution and swift resolve. Though, they have not confided on this to me I have come to believe that she is on a very short leash with them. Not only that but they have immediately placed themselves in charge of my personal security outside of Hogwarts.” She lowered her head “…as if me and Fai were still engaged. They have taken an active role as self-assigned bodyguards. They will not listen to me on this matter and have made it clear that only Fai could order them to leave my side… except within Hogwarts and the land dedicated to student leisure. They will not follow me onto Hogwarts property if I order them not to. They have followed me until I told them to leave. Even then they dared suggest as an offer that they could stand to my board in the appearance of life sized statue figurines.” She locked her eyes on Khalid’s and then shook her head.
“This is Fai’s kind of humor. This is the kind of realistic joke Fai configure even as children. These men don’t even see that they have taken on pieces of Fai’s personality.
“Khalid, I need them reunited with their Master and away from my shopping schedule.”
Zhilan lowered her head and forced herself to admit the pain and empty hole left by Fai, when he disappeared out her office window over two years ago.
“Whatever he has done, Khalid, could they have been honorable? These men believe, and recount their own involvement under Fai, as being strictly objective. They claim that his torture tactics are subjective to honor Justice on those who deserve it for their crimes against Tibet.
“This isn’t the insane actions of a greedy madman but the calculations of a faith driven honor bound man. Could I have been wrong all these years or are these men crazy? To top it off, the woman, the Destiny Judge, she walks talks and acts the arrogant official she was trained to become, but she has shown obedience, and fear for the other two.
“I know I just rambled out a bunch of confusing information, and I know that I have been coming here off and on every month for nearly two years. I have never asked what I must now.
“Now it’s not a casual desire to understand how he hid his criminal nature from me all these years. You see if what they say is true then the Ministry along with the government falsified as well as conspired against Fai in the knowledge that he had a greater purpose that they failed to speculate or allowed to be speculated by the public. You see, this is already a normal practice.
“Now I can place the Fai I knew within the Fai who can kill his enemies, and return justice for the crimes against our people. I must see him. If for no other reason, to remove his followers and that destiny Judge. Her name is Xie, and it is very important, if it does not bother you that Fai learn of name. The other two are Yu and On. If he doesn’t know them then it’s a trap and I am leaving for a sacred city in under 24 hours from now. I cannot tell you where they plan to take me. However, Fai will understand if you say that he still owes Zhilan, Wūtuōbāng, and that these strangers head for our utopia. I leave in thirteen hours. Yes, I must be at class in… an hour and… forty five minutes! I have to go!?
