Miley Has a Birthday (Unfinished) (Muggle Studies)
Flo Richards
Monday Morning: 9 am.
Flo had decided to have some fun this year with the students. One of her students Miley Potter was about to have a birthday. Flo decided to throw a Muggle Birthday Party. There would be no magic used in doing the decorations or making the refreshments. She would try and have dancing, and games also.
Broaching the idea to Sasha the Deputy Headmistress, a surprise was also going to be added. Sasha said she could arrange for Miley’s mom to be escorted onto the school grounds so she could attend the party. That was going to be a real surprise for Miley.

On her desk she set out a piece of lined paper with the different jobs she would need help with such as making the refreshments, decorating, greeters, and a disc jockey …………..
Saturday Morning 8:45 am.
Flo opened the door early for any who would arrive right after Breakfast in the Great Hall. She looked at her desk to make sure she had what was needed for the decorations. There were rolls of streamers, balloons to be blown up, tape, scissors, glue, stickers, a long roll of sign paper so they could make a sign, markers in 22 different colors, stencils, construction paper and string. A large trash can with a plastic bag liner, sat beside the desk.
Walking over to the kitchen area, she made sure there were several loaves of bread to make sandwiches, a cake mix, eggs, milk, pans, large spoons, sliced ham, turkey and cheese. For a snack tray she had bought, chips, sour cream and onion soup mix (for the dip), pickles, cherry tomatoes and carrots. In the refrigerator was soda’s in a variety of flavors and ice tea. Flo started the coffee pot and the tea kettle also. In the freezer was ice cream in three different flavors. Paper plates and cups sat on the work table which was normally a large desk area along with forks, spoons, and napkins.
Taking one last look around the room, Flo nodded to herself and decided to start cutting some of the streamers. She had a smile on her face and was singing a tune she had learned years ago called, “Zippity-Do-Da”.
Marshall Smith
Marshall had promised his mother he would be early to the decorating part of the birthday party. She was going to run the whole thing without magic. She had even come up with a few games. Marshall would be helping with the decorating. He knew how to cut streamers and how to use stencils.
It was now 15 minutes before 9 a.m. so Marshall was keeping his promise. Mika would be along later. He did not want to get up when Marshall when to the 1st years dorm room, Marshall had pulled off his covers, like he had seen Mother Jessica do at the orphanage, but added a move of his own. He pushed Mika on the floor, and then ran from the room. With any luck, Mika did not just go back to sleep on the floor and would follow soon.
“Hi Mom,” he said as he entered the room, “I made it finally. Mika will be along later I think,” Marshall smiled remembering Mika sprawled out on the floor. “I will start making the streamers.” Marshall walked over to the work table and cut a large circle out of a piece of construction paper. Then he started at the edge and gradually cut about one-fourth of an inch in from the outside edge, spiraling to the center where he left a connected circle about the size of a large button. In this button shape he punched a hole using the hole-punch and threaded a piece of string through it. Tying it off he held up the string and the spiral made a fancy streamer which could be hung anywhere. “One down and 20 to go,” he laughed and looked at this mother for approval.
Lily Shay
Lily excitedly walked into the Great Hall. She was so excited for this. Because today they were going to throw a party for a fellow Allies and Slytherin. Not just any Slytherin. But her very best friend Miley Potter. She and Tia had sent this idea to Professor Richards asking if they could throw a party for her. She agreed and now everyone was going to do this. She couldn't ask anything better.
First, her sisters were coming to Hogwarts for the first time aided by Tarik and Lisa. Lily could harldy wait for that. Perhaps then they could really come together and be a family.
Lily was probably, besides Tia. The only one that really absolutely knew Miley the most. Aside from most of the allies and her sisters. She had come to the party a little bit earlier as she set her present down.
The first present she had for Miley was a handwritten song book of songs she wrote herself with a CD she burnt with the songs. All of the songs she wrote were about their friendship, her struggle with the death of her parents, the allies, the headmaster dying, the future, everything.
The second present was another book, but this was a handwritten list by herself, of the many different poems, short stories and quotes from muggle and magical authors.
The third present was something Lily had been working on for ages since her third year. She could gladly say it was finally done. For she had written a fantasy, horror, mystery, suspense, thriller, romance with a dash of comedy in her own book she wrote herself just for Miley. That is one of Miley's favorite genres of books all wrapped up in one whole book.
And finally, the last thing Lily added to Miley's present was something Lily was busy working on last month. A journal. Which was handcrafted herself with the Hogwarts colors on the cover and the shield in the middle. Inside the journal it was exactly 80 pages long. Long enough for maybe Miley could write something she'd like to do on her own.
Lily had signed up to do two things, greet people, and help put up decorations. She then turned away from the table with the presents and then noticed that Marshall was there. She smiled decided to introduce herself to the young Ravenclaw as she never met him officially but has seen him in class and in the halls.
When Lily walked closer, she smiled at him. "Hello Marshall, I don't believe we've met before." Lily said smiling. "My name is Lily Shay."
