Why Headaches? (Richard, Lance, Tia, Landon, Invite)
(OOC: Combined threads from the previous site)
(OOC: Tia Andreas is up in Staff Offices, Professor Green's Office, )
Tia listened and smiled as she realized that the Core was just that a family. She might not always agree with each of the others, but when pushed they banded together to protect each other. She knew that she could count on anyone of them and she hoped that they knew that she would came to the aid of them as well.
Having noticed Richard's nervousness, Tia said, “I think I understand Richard. It is like the Core, isn't it? We are a family. I might have trouble with telling them everything but is only because I am afraid for them. I know they would risk everything, including their lives to protect me. Just like I would for each of them. Marsden didn't have that, did he? When push came to shove, they abandoned him. Unlike the members of the Core, which when anyone of us is pushed; we push back and usually a lot harder then our target.”
Tia got a weird look on her face and asked herself, “I wonder if Shadow would have still hurt Luke if he had just giving Shadow what he wanted? If Luke had not been stubborn? Could they be being hurt because of their stubbornness and if so am I to blame? If the Core stopped pushing Shadow, would he leave them alone?”
Tia started remembering how bad Luke had been hurt and could not help but feel responsible.
Tia thought about it for a long time before she answered, “Of course not!” In her mind a memory came, She was walking by Tarik's office and the door was ajar. She overheard Tarik say to somebody, “I know he needs them but it takes time. Plus my first responsibility is to the protection of Tia. I am worried as I have heard some things that have me doubting his intentions. Yes, I know that he only wants to make magic available to all. No, I am not doubting his word. It is just Sasha went to school with him. No, we have not talked about him but I would have to be blind not to see how she feels about him. She hates him and I wouldn't lose her again. Especially because I am just translating some ancient runes. If she asks what I have been doing, I won't lie. Because I have never lied about anything and I am not about to start now, that's why!” After a few minutes of silence, he said to Horus, “Horus, something is not right. That is the closes my blood brother has come to threatening me. I also am not liking the translations. Horus, if that translation is right then I have a choice to make. It was hidden by her for a reason as nobody should have that much power. I didn't lie when I said that the translation wasn't finished. I have just chosen not to continue as my first loyalty is to it's guardian. He is just going to have to understand that somethings should never be found.” Tia thought about asking Tarik if the Core could help when a friend of her godfather had showed up needing to talk with Tarik, so Tia had left.
Tia nodded but the memory had her worried. It worried her because the next day he had asked her that strange question. Also her godfather's friend came more often to check on her, he had said when she asked. “So why was he and that strange man with him watching Tarik?”, Tia said to herself quietly.
Tia got worried and realized that just maybe she should have told Tarik about the note she found when she was at St. Mungo's. She still didn't understand it but she knew that the word “Medjai professor” was not there by mistake. That note was meant for Tarik, not her.
Smiling Richard said to Tia, “I think we can all agree that having Sasha there would not be the best of ideas.” Lance only nodded. “But Tia it presents a problem because we do not keep secrets in our group which could have an effect on the others. If Tarik, and I say if, talked to Marsden or went to his enclave, then Sasha will eventually have to know. Lack of information can cause one of our members to walk into a situation unprepared for what may be waiting for them.”
Tia nodded as she said, “Just let him tell her okay. Please? Tarik doesn't lie, he just doesn't answer unasked questions.” She just hoped that she had not destroyed any chance for her aunt and Tarik.
Tia got scared for Tarik as she knew of only one man that would worry her aunt that much. Voicing her thoughts, she said, “It was Marsden! Only he could have my Aunt like that.” Knowing that they needed to know, she finished, “That note is not for me but Tarik. Look at how it is addressed. I never understood the message but I did know this, it is not friendly.”
Tia smiled as she nodded.
Tia pointed to the journal as she said, “I wonder if that is why some of the entries have an “NM” by them. Could those be Night Memory?”
Tia smiled as she said, “Thank you Richard. It is just that I keep every so often remembering the words,'Okay, I was thirteen and I was living in America near the Canadian border. One day, the American Ministry raided my home because of the way my family thought. They showed up and killed my entire family. I just ran into the woods. One of the men followed me, trying to kill me. Only I was better then he thought I was. I jumped him and murdered the man with his own wand, then disappeared. That's when I found Khalid. End of story.' It is had me spooked that's all.” It wasn't all because each time she remembered those words it was after her wondering why Shadow hated her father and Seth so. It was almost as if her mind was answering the question.
Tia nodded and said, “Richard, I was just spooked, especially finding out how little I really know about both Seth and my father. I am sorry. I just wished I knew more about them especially my parents.” Tia had tried to ask aunt Sasha only to have her remember something important she had forgotten. Tia had learned long ago that when an adult did that, it was because they were afraid that the truth would hurt to much. Smiling as she realized that her aunt was not as good at hiding things as her godmother Samantha had been.
Tia still weak but not as dizzy said, “My protronus? Those don't make people weak and dizzy? I will try.” Just then the memory came quickly, 'hearing a clap and the words. "I didn't know otters could look so mean. Regardless, you can't just go around doing that. You'll kill yourself ya know. And then where would I be without my trophy? That and people are going to assume that I killed you. And if they are gonna blame me then I'd actually like to be responsible for it."
Tia smiled and said, “Then show it to Brennan as he is always knowing things about what I'm about to do.”
Tia nodded as she said, “You are welcome. And Bren not just good,he's the best. Just go easy on him, okay?” Tia had noticed a change in both Luke and Brennan. They both were worried about something. Tia thought about asking Tarik to talk them but decided to wait. She hoped finding Ash would snap them out of it. She saw that Lance was watching her very carefully. He knows what is bothering Bren, Tia realized. She hoped that Lance would help Bren work though whatever it was that had Brennan so scared.
“You have the reasoning correct Tia. Always remember that, even if you start fighting among yourselves. You must find out what is wrong and see if you can correct it. Moods change and people change from time to time.”
This time Richard could not let the look go. “Tia, look at me. There is something you are not telling us. It is something about Tarik, I know. Remember how I told you the members of the Caretakers do not keep information from each other, because it could cause someone in the group to walk blindly into a problem. I am asking you to trust me and Lance and tell me why you are worried about….or possibly for Tarik.” Not letting her eyes leave his, even if she tried to turn away, Richard added, “Tia, you wanted to be treated like an adult well this is one of those adult moments. We cannot help Tarik, if we do not know what the problem could be, so how about it….” Richard stopped talking; it was up to Tia to decide.
'In her mind a memory came, She was walking by Tarik's office and the door was ajar. She overheard Tarik say to somebody, “I know he needs them but it takes time. “Tia,” Richard said, “I will promise you we will let Tarik tell her as long as the knowledge is not needed to keep Sasha and the Caretakers safe. Tia, Tarik does not know about the Caretakers. He does not know they exist or that Sasha is a member of them. You must not tell him. That is Sasha’s job, understand? Do not question me why this needs to be this way; it just does mostly to protect Tarik and what he is trying to do.”
When he looked at Richard though he realized, Richard was having serious questions running through his mind. Somehow he needed to talk with Richard before he went to talk with Tarik, but he knew there would not be the time.
“Tia this journal is nice. It will help. Brennan will be able to use the information.”
Richard looked at Lance, “Lance, I think it is time for you and Tia to have a talk about her parents.”
Lance smiled and said, “Tia, your father and I were friends when we were growing up. Maybe we can sit down and I can tell you a few stories about him. Not at the moment, because we have to get other things taken care of first, but soon I promise.”
“Your protronus makes you weak and dizzy because you were not trained at an earlier age to handle the mental and physical strain it causes.” Lance started to explain. “When you talk to Darik about your wand, talk to him about controlling your protronus also. You are also having this happen to you about one or two years earlier than most even learn what their protronus is, so there are several reasons you may be having this reaction. You will do fine with some practice.”
“Ok, thank you for this help.”
“It will be ok, Tia. Brennan is strong in a lot of ways. He will be able to work through what has happened to him. If he cannot on his own, we will get him some professional help.” Richard smiled to try and reassure the girl. “Tia, Brennan is my partner in the CT’s so I have a vested interest in seeing he is alright.”

Richard looked thoughtful for a moment then explained. “Sometimes a leader thinks they need a big huge army to protect them. When the army is large, there are no personal feelings between the men and the leader. The protectors are not working for a common cause. If you have small groups who all are working for protection of a person and an idea you have a group who will work for each other. Marsden thought he knew his people but he also did not treat his people with kindness and make them want to protect him. He had a grand idea but his people were working for money and power and not a grand idea which would have created peace.”
“It is hard to explain Tia. A group has to be like a family who may not always like everyone, but still cares for everyone.” Richard rubbed the back of his neck, because he was not sure he was using the right words to explain to the young girl

Lance reached out and patted Tia’s hand, “It will be fine, Tia. We all know Tarik and trust him, especially where you are concerned. Don’t worry about Tarik, he is smart and can handle situations well.”
Tia nodded but the memory had her worried. It worried her because the next day he had asked her that strange question. Also her godfather's friend came more often to check on her, he had said when she asked. “So why was he and that strange man with him watching Tarik?”, Tia said to herself quietly.
Richard answered the question, “Knowing Marsden, Tarik would have had added pressure put on him and threats made against his family or friends.”
Tia got worried and realized that just maybe she should have told Tarik about the note she found when she was at St. Mungo's. She still didn't understand it but she knew that the word “Medjai professor” was not there by mistake. That note was meant for Tarik, not her.

Lance said, “Tia the note was left by the man in the dark suit. We are still trying to find out who he was, but when it happened it worried, your Aunt Sasha so she agreed to have you come and stay with me.”
Lance smiled broadly and clapped a bit. “Princess, I think there is hope for you yet. You have just taken the first step to being a leader. A good leader knows they have to show by example what to do. The training is not hard and you will find everyone has their specialties. Learn those specialties and allow them to be used. Your group will become one.”
Richard nodded.
Richard nodded.
Tia smiled as she nodded.
“Tia we cannot stop the nightmares. Nightmares are ways of your brain trying to make sense out of things which are scaring you or you do not understand. Your brain, tries to come up with reasons, no matter how fantastic or illogical they might be for the things happening or things you are worried about. We all have nightmares, Tia. Sometimes, the nightmares can give you clues to how to solve problem.”
Thinking for a moment he added, “Tia, I want you to do something for me. I want you to write down your nightmares. Keep a piece of parchment and a quill beside your bed and when you are woken by a nightmare write down everything you remember, no matter how small. You do not have to use full sentences, you can write words, phrases or descriptions of scenes. Maybe this will help you remember when you are fully awake what happened and give some clues on how to solve the problem the nightmare is telling you about.” Richard had done this before and it had helped him realize he could not save everyone, but he could sure try with those close to him.

“Tia, the Caretakers do not kill children. Sometimes the people they are after use children as shields. But everything and I do mean everything is done to protect those who have no choice in a situation, from being hurt.” Richard looked off at the pyramid, hoping Joseph could give him some type of inspiration. Then he looked back at Tia, “Princess life is not easy. With being treated like a adult, comes responsibilities which you may not be ready for, but you are going to have to try and understand their necessities. You are going to have to realize, what you do, has both short and long term consequences. The short term may be good for all concerned, but will the long term be good for most is something you are going to have to try and figure out.”
Tia smiled as she said, “Thank you Richard. It is just that I keep every so often remembering the words,'Okay, I was thirteen and I was living in America near the Canadian border. It was almost as if her mind was answering the question.
Richard realized he had not answered her total question, so he continued, “I cannot answer your question about a possible rouge senior staff member going out for revenge. All I can tell you though, is each of us watches the others, for any signs of problems. Our leader, who is beyond reproach, has made it very clear we are to report any and all problems to her. If the problem is with her, we go to the second in command. He will take up the problem. We also have the right, to gather together as a group and discuss anyone. Our group is tight knit and has survived many of a psychological problem because of this.”
Tia nodded and said, “Richard, I was just spooked, especially finding out how little I really know about both Seth and my father. I am sorry. I just wished I knew more about them especially my parents.” Tia had tried to ask aunt Sasha only to have her remember something important she had forgotten. Smiling as she realized that her aunt was not as good at hiding things as her godmother Samantha had been.
Richard again whispered to Tia, “Tia, it is your protronus and you are the only one who can send it away. Maybe sending it away is the wrong way of putting it. You have to recall it back into yourself. It is part of you it is your other self in nature. Try…you can do it non-verbally and without a wand.”
Lance looked at Richard. Richard nodded, so Lance tried to explain, “Tia, before you said you had not received any notes from your tormentor this year and it had you worried. Well, on the back of the picture is a message to your father from his tormentor, saying your father could no longer save you, so he should give up. We all know he did not.” Smiling he continued, “We will use the message to try and find out more about the person.”
Tia smiled and said, “Then show it to Brennan as he is always knowing things about what I'm about to do.”
Richard added, “Brennan is good at profiling. This is when you take written information written by a person, or pictures of places or things the person has been involved with and tries and figure out who that person is and how they will act in the future. We will use the picture, thank you.” Richard put the picture in his pocket.
