Ready or Not? Sasha's First Staff Meeting (Staff Only)(Headmistress Office)
(OOC: Combined threads from the previous site)
Sasha McChey
Sasha had smiled as Tarik lead her to the office that she would always consider Joseph's. She was more than a little nervous. The Ravenclaw Head of House looked at the portrait of her friend and mentor. Joseph just smiled as she said, “Guess you win again Joseph? Max announced the Wizenagot's degree this morning...at Breakfast!”
Joseph smiled as he said calmly, “About time, especially when Flara is missing...Sasha, you will do fine. If I didn't believe that I would have never made you Deputy Headmistress.”
Sasha watched as her husband Tarik stood next to Joseph's chair and pulled it out. She smiled as she finally took a seat.
Joseph said with a little more sternness to his voice, “Sasha, you are not Daniel and never will be. Yes, both of you had the Seer ability but it was not the ability or the fact of everybody thought that he would be Minister one day that corrupt him. You and I both know who he mistakenly listened to...You on the other hand was never swayed by the Number and even tried to talk some sense into the others.”
Sasha listened as her mind wondered why Daniel's visions did not warn him as her's had done.
Joseph smiled as he said understand the problem, “His did, Sasha but Daniel did not understand the warnings until the end. His belief in his gift and that his way was the only way, allowed the Number to twist both him and his gift. I think it was his talks with somebody is what finally got him to see where he really needed to be?”
Tarik smiled as he realized that Joseph Witchard was keeping his secret. Taking his wife's hand, the Medjai said, “I told her Joseph and found out that Daniel had told her that day at St. Mungo's. There will be no more secrets between us, though Dempsey's is not mine to reveal.”
Sasha nodded though she was still concerned about her husband's trust in his friend.
Joseph smiled and said, “Good, Now Sasha my dear what is on today's schedule?”
As she watched Tarik finally take a seat, The New Headmistress said jokily, “Besides classes, wanting to skin both Seth and Max, well...Staff Meeting...”
Looking at the clock as she continued, “...ten minutes! We need to get a plan together to protect the students while taking the fight to him...I could really use your input old friend? He has made himself known to a few people, including both Seth Lucas Wright and Tia.”
Joseph's portrait got a unique look as he said, “Interesting, he has never done that before, very interesting...Oh, I think the first of the staff...or I should say second has arrived?”
Sasha smiled as Tarik rose. Still wondering if she was really ready as she said, “Enter!”
(OCC: Tarik is one of my many characters. Joseph's portrait's words are taking from talks me and Jeff had since Sasha became Deputy Headmistress before his death. Plot Thread!)
Richard Greene
“I am so glad Sasha has finally gotten the appointment as Head Mistress,” Richard, the Herbology professor, said following Arianna as they climbed the steps to the Head Mistress office. “She has been doing all the work, and has received none of the credit.”
Reaching the landing at the top of the stairs Arianna, the Librarian, turned and looked at the new man in her life. She and Richard had known each other for about ten years, but until recently only as Employer and Employee. Richard was a member of the Caretaker Group and Arianna was founder and lead person. Now, since Richard had asked her if they could officially date, they had also added the level to their relationship of courtship. They were comfortable together, but had not been officially dating long enough to see how the relationship would be affected by the other parts of their lives. For now though they were both very happy and did not mind others knowing of how they felt.
“It will be good for both her and Tarik.” Arianna said as she reached for Richards hand, “They love each other and because they both want to support each other, there are no secrets between them anymore.”
They continued to the door, hand in hand. Reaching the door Richard knocked. Opening the door he stood back a little and allowed Ari to enter first. He was a gentleman, but he also loved just watching Arianna when she did not know he was watching. She was the most beautiful woman in the world to him.
“Thank you,” Arianna said as Richard opened the door for her and with his hand on her back, gently guided her into the room. Ari knew he watched her every step. In the beginning of the official start to their present relationship, it had annoyed her to be watched, but whenever she turned quickly or looked up, there had been nothing but admiration in Richard’s eyes, so she just accepted his concern. In his arms was the most comfortable place to be, and she was not about to forgo that position, because of bad words between them.
Arianna smiled broadly when she saw Sasha sitting in the chair behind the desk with a beaming Tarik seated on the end seat in the front row of the two rows of chairs. Walking forward she offered her hand to her friend and colleague. “Sasha, you look perfect in that seat.” Not losing the smile she added, “I officially offer my total support.”
When she found Richard behind her with his hand around her waist, she stepped slightly sideways so he could speak.”I agree with Ari, Sasha … the chair suits you. It is nice to know those stuff shirts have finally come to their senses.” Richard winked and turned to Ari, “Let’s get our seats Ari. This place will probably fill up fast.” Richard led Ari to the two seats next to Tarik, allowing Ari to sit between him and her half-brother.
Lance Kildare
Doctor Lance Kildare, resident specialist, had stopped in the Staff Room to see if he could find any of the special tea Tarik had introduced him too. He was out and he had not been able to get word to Sara Puddifoot at the Tea Shoppe in Hogsmeade to order him some more. As he checked the cabinets, absent-mindedly he looked at the notice board. Most of the staff members had gotten used to checking it at least once a day. It was the best way to keep in touch when classes were in session. Sasha, the newly appointed Head Mistress had called her first Staff Meeting. Lance smiled and nodded. It was fantastic the lady would finally get credit for all the hard work she had been doing, since the disappearance of Flora Meridian. The Ministry had waited a long time to officially appoint Sasha.
The one thing which puzzled Lance was why Sasha did not look happier when Maxwell Sinclair, the resident Psy-Healer, and friend of Sasha’s had announced at Breakfast the appointment. The whole student body had cheered and clapped. The staff at the main table added their exuberant agreement also. Sasha had looked almost embarrassed. Lance put it down as happiness and gratitude.
Looking at the time on the note he went to find Flo Richards to make sure she knew of the meeting. Flo was the Muggle Studies Professor, and someone Lance had a special interest in. They had not officially started dating, but they had talked quietly together and Lance had been included in outings with Flo and Marshall her son, who he got along with superbly. Marshall was a little jealous of Lance, but they were growing in affection with each other. It had taken Lance several man-to-man talks to get Marshall to understand he was not trying to take away the memories his mother had of his father. Marshall had never known his father, in fact he had not even known he had a living mother, until about two years earlier, when he had come to school from an orphanage. He had been stolen from his mother the night he was born and his mother had been told he had died along with his father.
Lance found Flo where he expected to find her, in her classroom, reviewing the past week’s class accomplishments. It was Saturday so there were no classes, but Flo always used the mornings of the class break to review what the students had done during the week and set the next weeks classes. She had told him once, that this allowed her to spend the afternoons and the next day with Marshall or just enjoying the time off.
“Flo, Sasha has called a Staff meeting, come on you can do that stuff later,” Lance said as he entered the bright and airy room. Flo could not stand to have the window shutter fastened, even when winter winds blew outside. She would put up a barrier over them which would allow the light in and keep the cold out.
Flo looked up from the notebook she was checking and smiled, “I figured she might be calling one soon. How much time do we have?” Before Lance could answer she added, “Come look at this …. the first aide lesson you helped with has really gotten the students excited.”
Lance walked to the counter in the kitchen area where Flo was standing, looked at the notebook, said, “Nice,” then gently closed the book and took Flo’s hand. “Come on Flo, we need to leave now … I will help you with this later.” To this statement he added a light kiss on her cheek, receiving a blush. Lance loved the idea, that Flo who was considered a mature woman and had been married a year before her husband died in an automobile accident, still blushed like a young girl from something as simple as a kiss on the cheek.
Smiling he took her other hand also and led her out of the room. They kept holding hands until they reached the Head Mistress’ door. Lance knocked and opening the door, bowed to Flo to allow her to enter first. Thinking to himself, “Ah another blush, that was two already, It was going to be a fun day.”
Lance followed Flo to Sasha’s desk and both beamed as Flo said, “Sasha I am really happy to see you sitting behind that desk. You are going to make a great Head Mistress.” Flo looked at Lance, allowing him to greet Sasha. “I agree whole-heartedly, Head Mistress Sasha …. You are perfect for the job.”
“Lance let’s sit over there behind Tarik, Arianna and Richard.” When they had seated themselves, Flo tapped Tarik, her father in law, on the shoulder and said, “Father, you look just as happy as Sasha. She will be okay, you know.”
Lance looked at Tarik and added, “Tarik, can I talk with you later please.” It was a day of new beginnings so he may as well add one of his own. Tarik’s family was very old fashioned in a lot of ways. Flo, who had been married to his son, was officially still under his care, so Lance felt he needed to ask Tarik for permission to court Flo. Flo would of course think he was being silly but to him it was a necessary step.
Pippin English
Pippen English, the Care of Magical Creatures Professor, had not been able to make it to Breakfast; two Fire-Fairies had come to her window in the early morning hours, carrying one of their companions who had hurt his leg. He was a young Fire-Fairy and had not been careful when flying through the Black Rose Garden. One of the thorns had made a deep gash in the young ones leg. Pippen had been able to bandage the wound and had instructed the other two what to do to help it heal. By the time she was done, breakfast was over and the students were off to do what-ever they did on a day with no classes.
Pippin went to the Staff Room to see if any notification had been posted for the day’s activities, and found the note of a Staff Meeting in Head Mistress Sasha McChey’s office. Pippin smiled. The officials had finally come to realize they needed to give Sasha the title for what she had been doing all along. Normally Pippin did not make the climb up the long flight of stairs to the Head Mistress’ office. Her leg, which still caused her to limp, would usually have painful twinges radiating through it by the time she was at the top.
She had originally hurt her leg when she was eight years old and her Mother had taken her to a Muggle Hospital to have it fixed. It had never healed totally and she had retained a limp. When she was younger the leg never bothered her, but as she grew older, especially in the last two or three years it had begun to ache when she walked or climbed for long distances. She had thought of having Lance Kildare examine it, but she hated to bother the young man especially since he was so busy. The other reason she did not say anything was because she was a member of the Caretaker Group and thought maybe she would be taken out of field work if Arianna Sadiki thought she was having a hard time with the leg. Pippin had used some home remedies, and so far no one else knew. She was fighting the idea she had to remove herself from field work if it got much worse, because she could reach the point, her condition could put others in danger.
As she reached the door to the office, she stopped and leaned against the wall to catch her breath and allow the leg to stop its visible twinges. When she figured she could present a good exterior she entered with a smile on her face, and walked up to the desk where Sasha was sitting. “Hello, Head Mistress Sasha McChey,” she said with a little more of a genuine smile, “Sorry I missed the announcement at Breakfast. I am thrilled with your appointment. …” Giving Sasha another large smile, Pippen winked and went to sit in the back row of chairs, away from where the others were sitting. She did not want to get too close to Lance because the young man had an uncanny way of knowing when someone needed his help, and sitting in the seat she choose would allow her to extend her leg out. This would be an excepted happening, so she may get by without any questions about her leg.
Maxwell (Lance) Sinclair
It had been a real honor for Maxwell to announce Sasha’s official appointment as Head Mistress of Hogwarts. She had no idea he was going to make the announcement when he made a special point of being at the breakfast. When he had stood up and called for silence she had a questioning look on her face.
He had asked her to stand up and made a speech about how much she deserved the position. Sasha even tried to look pleased and smiled at the student’s exuberant cheers and noise of congratulations. Maxwell knew Sasha was worried about having the position, even though she had been temporary Head Mistress for a long period of time. From what Maxwell could understand, Sasha was afraid the position would corrupt her.
When breakfast was over and most of the students and teachers had left, Maxwell had remained in the Great Hall in case one of the students wanted to talk with him. They seemed to like the informality of talking to him there. When he was done, he headed for Sasha’s new office.
Knocking on the door, he entered to find some of the teachers already in attendance. He smiled at everyone and took a seat in the last row. He made a mental note to talk with Pippin who was sitting by herself, which was totally uncharacteristic for the lady.
Looking at the other occupants in the room he noticed. Lance sitting close to Flo. The man looked very thoughtful and pleased with himself. Maybe he was going to finally speak up about dating Flo. Arianna and Richard were in close conversation, but there was a pleased look on both their faces. Maxwell remembered when he had a talk with Arianna about not being so mad at Richard for talking to Tarik about dating her, before Richard had discussed a formal dating time with Arianna. She grudgingly accepted the situation after Richard promised he would come to her first from now on.
Tarik was listening to those around him, but his attention and smile were for Sasha. Maxwell had forced them to sit across from each other in a room and just talk, saying what ever came to their minds. After they had gotten a good start he had left the room, so he would not invade their privacy. When they had emerged both had been almost blissful. Two such strong personalities would guarantee other misunderstandings, but they had learn to not keep secrets from each other … to share their good times and bad times.
Maxwell sat back in his chair and relaxed.
Alexia Friedmann
Alexia Friedmann, professor of divination did not spend much time at the school. She had arranged her classes so she technically only had to be there twice a week. The rest of the time she used to do research on her family, travel to places she has always wanted to see and learn new ways of fighting without using a wand. Alexia had found sometimes a wand was slower, because you had to think of the spell, point the wand and send out the spell, mean while the other person has given you an upper cut on the jaw and you are out cold. Alexia did not like knives but staffs and things that would be just lying around any house were interesting as weapons.
It had come through the Caretaker Group grapevine that an announcement was to be made at breakfast, so she apparated into the Staff Room and headed for the Great Hall, just as Maxwell stood up and asked for quiet. The announcement of Sasha’s official appointment as Head Mistress was not unexpected to anyone who knew her and knew what a great job she had done in the unofficial role.
She had stayed after, and talked with Max then went to her apartments to freshen up. After double checking no messages had been left in her classroom, she headed for Sasha’s new office. Entering she found several of the other staff already there, Waving to everyone she went and took a seat next to Pippin English. She really liked the lady and was getting mental signals something was wrong. It would be impolite for her to ask, but if she was close maybe the CoMC professor would say something.
Corbin MacAirgead
With long strides, Corbin made his way down the corridor to, what he had hoped, was the correct destination of the staff meeting. He had spent several weeks contemplating Sasha's job offer after she had eventually cornered him after the incidents of the fire. Initially, the plan was to "think about it" and then later decline respectfully however, due to a certain someone spilling the proverbial beans, that plan went to ruin. Nat was the first to congratulate him. In his defense, the mercenary had tried to set the record straight yet it's pretty difficult to argue with a vampire when she tries to convince you to do something. Word spread quickly enough and even Khalid had heard about the incident. At that point, it became an order and Corbin could only follow it through. He had to remember to thank Tia for playing instigator in all this; Perhaps he would do so during their next lesson.
Corbin Stopped a moment to get his bearings and readjust his clothes. Normally he had little care for personal appearance, he never needed to impress anyone, however it was expected of him as a staff member to a high class wizarding school. At least he thought so. Corbin left behind his usual clothes and had donned hes black leather jerkin. Underneath, he work a knee length gambeson (padded coat) of burgundy with black suede gauntlets. with the Gross messer and dirk belted to his hip, the effect did have a way of helping him fit in, even though he wore the same black BDU pants and combat boots. He studied his reflection in a window and Shook his head at how much weight he had put on since leaving the Legion. Groaning, he pressed on.
A few minutes later, Corbin found himself at the Headmaster's office. In this case, it would be headmistress but it didn't matter. He reached the door and took a moment to mentally prepare himself to deal with whatever teacher related business took place behind the closed doors. With hand rested gently on the hilt of his messer and a bold smile on his face, Corbin opened the door and entered... Only to stop at the awkwardness of a handfull of people he had met already, and not on good terms.
Richard
Brennan had not shown up yet and Richard was a little worried. If the rumors were true they were expecting a possible new member to the staff who could be a problem. Everyone was determined Sasha would have no problems with her job and they had all agreed to support her to the best of their abilities. Richard had promised Arianna he would not cause a scene if the person showed up.
He had noticed Lance come in with Flo. Richard smiled. Lance would soon have his little talk with Tarik. Richard had one when he wanted to seriously start dating Arianna, and even though he had know Tarik, he had been very nervous … He wondered if Lance was going to feel the same.
Pippin English had arrived and Richard had a feeling she was limping worse. She also did not have the customary smile on her face. If she still looked bad by the end of the meeting Richard would bring it to Lance’s attention.
He was glad to see Maxwell there although he doubted Sasha would have been remis on talking to the Psy-Healer and friend, about Corbin appointment. Richard could not read the man’s face, he never could, even though he had been through several “sessions” himself.
It was also good to see Alexia, the lady stayed so busy she was hardly ever at the school. He returned her wave adding a smile.
Richard had not turned totally back around in his chair when another apparent member of the staff walked in, but stood at the door. Corbin had actually showed up. Richard reached slightly behind him and touched Arianna on the arm, then stood up himself. He heard Arianna whisper to him and remind him he had promised there would not be any problems. Richard turned slightly and bent to give her a kiss on the forehead adding in a whisper, “I will keep my promise to you. I think I will go and greet our newest member. Excuse me …”
Richard made his way casually through the chairs and headed to where Corbin still stood by the door. He heard Sasha say, “Corbin, welcome, come have a seat here in the front. I am glad you have accepted my offer to be Keeper of the Keys.” It had been said in a louder and firmer voice than was necessary, which made Richard realize the small welcome speech had been for him also.
Richards’s wand had dropped partially in his hand. Looking back over his shoulder he saw a look on Sasha’s face that dared him to cause trouble. He flicked his wand back up into its holder in his sleeve, took a deep breath, put a smile on his face, held out his hand and said, “Corbin, welcome, we are all glad you have decided to join our staff. It will be great having you around where we can be readily available to help you if needed.” While he was saying this, he attempted to keep the sarcasm out of his voice. It would be good to have Corbin close, where they could keep an eye on him, instead of having to track him all over the place.
Several of them knew of the lessons he was giving Tia. Her leg was bleeding bad one day and Darik had become worried, so he had followed her. The elf had assured Richard and Brennan that Tia was alright, and they had taken his word for it and not interfered. Only Darik knew where they were holding the combat lessons. With Corbin part of the Staff, they would be able to talk with him and find out if he could be trusted. At the moment Richard stood with his hand outstretched and a smile on his face. He wondered what the others were doing, but he did not want to look away.
Arianna and Tarik had also stood up and placed inviting smiles on their faces. Anyone who knew them would realize the smiles were a little stiff, but after Richard’s greeting they wanted the man to come and sit down. Others would be arriving soon and at the moment Richard and Corbin were blocking the door.
(OCC: Richard and Arianna are my characters, I had permission for Barbie to use Sasha and Tarik)
Corbin
"Eh... my pleasure?" Corbin tried to force a smile but there was no hiding his discomfort. If he had a tail it would have been tucked firmly between his legs at this point. Immediately he remembered he had hated school. Didn't also help that a few key members of the staff were also people he had made less then outstanding first impressions with. And now he had to work with them, at a school no less.
Corbin cautiously took the offered hand "Umm.... yes. I can honestly say with you all in such close proximity I have absolutely no fear of anything outside these walls" Instead I have to worry about everything INSIDE these walls. There was an awkward momment when he realized they were still shaking hands in an eerie silence. As well as blocking the door.
"Well... as much as I enjoy a good long handshake, I think it would be good to clear the traffic from this side and settle down for a good, safe, team building staff meeting." When he hand was finally released he went to sit in the spot Sasha had pointed out. To Corbin's luck, he was dead center and in front surrounded by a mix of people who either already had expressed dislike of him, or else were new
Linda Halliwell
Linda immediately rushed to the Headmistress office realizing she was already late for the staff meeting. Headmistress...a word she'll have to use around Sasha. She had been so wrapped up in things she had almost forgotten about this meeting. Linda sighed as she arrived on the floor where the Headmistress's office was located. As she walked she kept thinking about her brother. Leo was back in her life. Her brother...was alive. After all these years he is alive. And was captured...for fifteen years. Fourteen long years. What worried her the most about her brother is that he still won't tell her anything. Linda sighed knowing that this was something she needed to get used to now that her brother was back in her life.
Another thing she thought about was her son. Kai. Linda noticed that he hasn't talking a lot in her class lately, and not even looking at her at during the class most of the time. Linda had to wonder if it was because of her and her sudden arrival. Maybe she would ask the other professors if Kai had been acting weird in class lately. Perhaps it was time to have a mother and son talk.
And then there was Miley. When Linda had heard about what had happened to Miley she instantly got worried and demanded to know why someone could possibly harm Miley. As well as who is the reason behind it. When the Healers in St. Mungo's said that they didn't know what the cause was. Linda and Lisa demanded them to find out. But unfortunately they had not found a reason why...leaving Linda to suspect something was going on with this pain in Miley's throat. She knew she had to investigate it. But she had to be careful. She didn't want anyone else to find out what she was doing. Like what happened with Angel...
Angel was missing. She feared for her sister right now and wondered if she was alright. Safe and Alive. But now she could only hope. Leo and Antonio both told her not to worry about Angel. Linda had wondered if she wasn't just taken that night. She had wondered if there had been news about Angel yet from her brother or Antonio. She will have to ask Antonio when he got here. Linda sighed knowing she needed to forget about this now and focus on this meeting.
Once Linda got into the office she had noticed that Sasha, Lance, Pippin, Ariana, Tarik, Richard, Corbin, Flo, Alexis, Maxwell were already here. Linda smiled seeing everyone here. She looked over to Joseph's portrait and gave a smile. It felt weird seeing the old Headmaster there but she was also happy for Sasha as this was a good job for her. She knew it in her heart that Sasha would do well.
"Hello Headmistress." Linda said with a giggle. "I hope I'm not late?" She asked as she took her seat and looked at Sasha.
Zhilan Wei
The aspiration from Shangri-La to England, more specifically Hogwarts, drained Zhilan of her strength. "Finally," she gasped as the crisp misty air lingering over the grounds filled her lungs. The castle stood majestically before her inspiring awe at its exotic and historic beauty.
After visiting the mythical city of her own heritage and witnessing pure elegance in ancient eastern architecture she now held a new respect. Western historical structures. She bit her bottom lip in thought as she strolled through the grand doors leading to the foyer. Her hand caressed the grains in the lumber while she admired how both cultures had taken great thought to preserve their heritage.
Silence rang true throughout her conscience quickly bringing Zhilan back to reality at the empty building in which she… “Silence!" She was late! Or was she early? Feeling like a little girl who had just returned home from an amusement park Zhilan fought a silly grin and swaggered through the hallway toward the headmaster’s office. Thinking of which, Tarik had assured her that he would cover her absence, considering Tarik was most likely the new headmaster, she had nothing to worry about.
Having not drank a drop of intoxicating ale she swayed and wavered forward light headed, delirious, and floating on air. Around the corner several people she had the pleasure of meeting, rounded the corner. Lightheaded and foolish, Zhilan completely air brained names she had spoken on multiple occasions. Stifling a giggle at her foolishness while struggling to regain composure Zhilan gave a short bow to the others who swiftly passed by. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Not that she considered herself very old but this childlike behavior was completely out of character, and she liked it! With a complete twist that flung her outer sashay in a twist and meant to say hello but instead “nǐ hǎo.” Both turned with a short nod and rushed away wands in hand.
She completed her twirl in a perfect three sixty facing the headmaster’s office. And considered that for a moment. Troubling yet there was always some kind of action going on and she wasn’t about to dive in without invitation or at least explanation. Nothing could have knocked her out of carefree mood… except the shocker written across the door.
Sasha McCahey. Zhilan was far from discouraged, even when a little voice reminded her that Tarik had both covered as well as granted her the short vacation. Ah, but Tarik didn't need to be headmaster to fulfill that promise, and she held a good working and personal relationship with Sasha. So, in light of the surprise Zhilan returned to a lightened mood. However, it was short live because fatigue rushed over her body like an avalanche, sprouting fear and anxiety to overwhelm her soul. What was truly in those sprouts she ate only hours earlier?
In conjunction a staff meeting was... "In session, all staff required to attend!?" Zhilan gasped as fear jolted awake shedding fatigue like a suffocating blanket. She reached for the door handle aware that magically causing this door to open was... against the rules, and besides she didn't currently have the strength to light a flame let alone bypass a magically locked door. Shamefully Zhilan sighed, she was late and now had let down the staff. Nevertheless, she bit her fear, stuffed her fatigue and entered the room, Lance Kildred, and Maxwell Sinclair were on their way out. These men were healers, from St. Mungo’s. Not just any but highly esteemed amongst the western magical society. Her mind raced as she greeted them, this time in English, or what she hoped sounded like a language at all. Two auroras raced past her in the hall and now two of St Mungo’s best young healers were preparing to depart from a mandatory staff meeting. Her heart went from personal fear to selfless concern. Explanations were now required, and she was about to get them.

…. With hand rested gently on the hilt of his Messer and a bold smile on his face, Corbin opened the door and entered... Only to stop at the awkwardness of a handful of people he had met already, and not on good terms.
Corbin
“Corbin, welcome, come have a seat here in the front. I am glad you have accepted my offer to be Keeper of the Keys.” It had been said in a louder and firmer voice than was necessary, which made Richard realize the small welcome speech had been for him also.
"Eh... my pleasure?" Corbin tried to force a smile but there was no hiding his discomfort. If he had a tail it would have been tucked firmly between his legs at this point. Immediately he remembered he had hated school. Didn't also help that a few key members of the staff were also people he had made less then outstanding first impressions with. And now he had to work with them, at a school no less.
held out his hand and said, “Corbin, welcome, we are all glad you have decided to join our staff. It will be great having you around where we can be readily available to help you if needed.” While he was saying this, he attempted to keep the sarcasm out of his voice.
