Khalid Onaris's Home:Getting the Upper Hand (Open to Onaris family and Seven Members)
Khalid was glad when he heard his great-granddaughter read her acceptance letter. She was going to Hogwarts. Khalid gave her one of his rare smiles as he thought coldly, 'Now I won't need Dahana at all.' He knew the boy had gotten a letter too. Khalid was not that interested except to keep up appearances. The boy did not have his grandson's blood like his sweet Penny did. He used the boy to get his great-granddaughter to try harder to please him. He smiled at the boy a long time as he thought about how he could use them to keep an eye on the girl known as Tocanema Tia Spellman. They would befriend her and her friends. Then when the time was right, they would bring the ones with Medjai blood to him.
Looking around his palace, he said to the children, "That is great that you are both going to Hogwarts." Thinking, 'now I will insure that they write me every day.' He continued frowning, "But with you both gone, what will I do with my free time?"
He would allow them to tell him about the girl Tia and her medallion. They had seen their father's often enough. Penny was smart. She would send him an owl about seeing one on the girl. 'Then and only after she informs me, will I have her befriend the girl.' ,Khalid thought knowing that his great-granddaughter was always looking for ways to please him.
Looking at their parents, Khalid had known all along that they would not interfere. He knew their secret and he used it to keep them in the Seven and them helping him with pulling the Medjai together. 'What is left of them?' ,Khalid thought bitterly as he remembered why this Tia and others had become so important. It was because very few true blood Medjai were left. The children knew that he seeked to find others that had even some Medjai blood. Thinking about the chessboard, he said as he handed it to Penny, "Penny dear. A gift so you and your brother won't get bored." As he looked at his grandson he thought smiling coldly, 'Yes, now Penny will want to do something in return. She will owl me about Tia as soon as she sees the medallion. It is how I raised her. She will not want me to think she is unworthy of such a priceless gift as will the boy. They will do whatever it takes to please me as will you my grandson as will you.'
David Valentine
It was just one of those nights. The sky was void of clouds, revealing the clear night sky and all of those pinpricks of lights called stars. He took a moment to stare upwards before resuming his walk to the Onaris Household. Yes, Khalid was an old friend of his and it had been quite a while since he'd seen the old man. He tried to call up memories of his last visit but all he got was a burning in the scar that ran from his right eye, down his cheek to his jaw. It seems that the past should remain right where it belongs, in the past.
As often as he thought that to himself, he could not stop the old memories from surfacing, because as much as Val might deny it, Khalid Onaris was the closest thing to a father that he had for the majority of his life. After his stint as a Special Ops Officer for the American Muggle Military, Khalid had brought him in and taken him under his wing. He had set him up with more training and certainly more jobs and money then he could have gotten on his own. But Khalid did something even more brilliant for David. He introduced him to the Seven. The organization that had become his life.
David Valentine loved this man as much as any son could love his father. He showed him the world and through it, his life goals and dreams blossomed. But this did not come without a price and David was happy to pay it. He assisted in the murders of many people and as he stood there on the walkway across from the house, he remembered them all. Leo Potter and a man named Dawson come firmly to mind. Plus there were ones that he simply oversaw and made sure that the deed was done. William and Marcus Andreas, James Spellman and that fool girl Tia's mother. He regretted his assistance in none of their deaths. He was happy to do it for his friend, his mentor, and yes, his father.
As David Valentine approached the Onaris home, he stopped and wavered slightly. Wondering to himself whether Khalid would recognize him or not. David stopped a moment and looked down at himself. Since the last time he had seen the old man, David had grown taller and was a little more built, muscle-wise. His hair was now cut short and he looked, well, older.
He had to admit that the thought of turning back occured to him, but he decided on his course of action and firmly pushed on across the street and up the walk. Standing at the front door he reached up to grab the brass knocker and knocked three times. He settled back on the balls of his feet to wait the answer. Instinctively his wand appeared in his jacket sleeve, ready to be used if necessary. He didn't honestly beleive he would need it, but you didn't last as long in the Seven as he had by being careless.
Penelope Onaris
Penny sat before her Great-Grandfather Onaris and was animatedly telling him of the Hogwarts acceptance letter she had just gotten two days before. She was ecstatic to be getting away from home. She had been in the same place all her eleven years of life and was ready for something more new and adventurous. And Hogwarts was the perfect place. She looked over at her brother, who was frowning and narrowing his eyes at their great-grandfather every few minutes. Penny glared at him as if telling him to stop whatever he was doing because it was impolite but James seemed to have pointedly ignored her by the way he rolled his eyes and looked in the other direction. The two weren’t very close but made very good playmates for each other when things in their home started to became lame and tedious.
Looking away from her brother, Penny gazed around at the palace around the three of them. It was a very beautiful place. Much more grand than her own home but a bit frightening due to its enormous size. She had spent the night once in this big, beautiful home and learned the hard way to not got wandering around at night or else she would have been lost and would not have found her way back to the bedroom one of the maids had set up for her. Luckily, she didn’t get too far from her room before her great-grandfather caught her and ushered her back into her bedroom. That was the last time she had spent the night in her great-grandfather’s big home.
“Oh, Great-Grandfather, I’m sure you would find something to do. I will only be gone for a few months and then I’ll come home during the Holidays. You know I would never want to be away from you for so long.”
The reason why she was saying “I” instead of “we” for her and her brother was because she knew James could care less about coming home for the Holidays. He never particularly liked his family unlike Penny did and it made her a little annoyed and a little sad. She knew her family could be a bit cold and mean but they can’t help how they turn out like. Penny learned that it was all about how a person was raised by their parents to know how they turn out like. Or maybe she was wrong but it seemed that way to her.
Thinking about the chessboard, he said as he handed it to Penny, "Penny dear. A gift so you and your brother won't get bored."
Penny gasped when she saw the chessboard being handed to her. It was her great-grandfather’s most prized possession other than his medallion which indicated that he had Medjai blood in him. Her father also had a medallion which he wore proudly each day. Great-Grandfather Onaris had told that if anything were to ever happen to him she would inherit his medallion. As sick as the thought was since she loved her great-grandfather dearly, Penny couldn’t wait for the day when the medallion was hers.
“Oh,” she whispered as she took the chessboard from her great-grandfather’s hands. “This is too much. James and I can find some other chessboard to play but this is too valuable. It could break.” Even when the words were coming out of her own mouth, Penny couldn’t help but feel a bit satisfactory that her great-grandfather trusted her enough to give her the chessboard she had played on since she was younger. She would do anything for him. He was her role-model and would do anything just to show it.
Khalid Onaris
Khalid had only remembered one time that he had been disappoint in Penny. She had been staying over and had gotten out of bed. He had found her near the only picture he had of his fool of a half-brother Tarik. Without knowing if she had seen the picture, he had taken her back to bed. He had been able to get the picture removed with the help of the only outsider that he wished was really his son, David Valentine. He didn't know where he had taken the picture and did not care.
'As long as David knows the face.' ,Khalid thought remembering the day that Val or Dark Shadow as Khalid like to call him gave him the picture. It was on his birthday. Val had also informed him that most of Khalid's problems were solved including his father. 'Only Tarik was left.' ,Khalid thought bitterly. He had sent a message to Val asking him to come tonight. He would ask Val to take the children to Diagon Alley tomorrow.
Khalid smiled as Penny said about holidays. "Penny dear, how will I knew that you are eating right?" ,Khalid said still waiting to hear that she would write him.
"I know you are careful dear." ,Khalid said knowing that Penny was a great chess player. With that his thoughts went back to another person that he had taught the game to. 'Where is he?' ,Khalid thought worried that something might have happen to Val in the last six months that he had seen him.
When Khalid heard the three knocks, he went to the door and opened it. Standing there was the man that was more of a proper son to him.
"Hello, son.", Khalid said smiling as he made sure his grandson and Penny heard him.David Valentine
David smiled and the wand went back up into his sleeve and stayed there. David instantly became less tense and loosened up. "Hello, father. It's been a long time." He embraced the old man in a quick hug. "How many times have I told you not to answer yuor own door? Let a maid or someone less valuable do that. Safer that way."
It was then that David noticed the kids sitting on the floor. "Hello kids. All set for the first day of term tomorrow?" David smiled once again as he set foot inside the Onaris household. He'd forgotten how much he liked being here. As it was, these were some of the few occasions that he smiled. He took in all he could in a moments glance. Penelope holding the chessboard and James looking sullen. David had played Khalid on that chessboard before and he knew how valuable it was to him.
It was obvious that Khalid was scheming again and doing it well. "I'm going to go get a drink from your cabinet. Want something? I don't want to interrupt any family moments here." David smiled and waited to be told to hurry up and get Khalid's drink as he didn't really know what to expect. He knew that he was asked to come tonight but the purpose was still a mystery. He probably just needed someone killed or something hidden, stolen, destroyed. The usual stuff.
Penelope Onaris
Penny thought it very suspicious that he would want to know that she was eating right but thought nothing of it since she was sure that her great-grandfather just cared for her health. James on the other hand was now narrowing and squinting his eyes like crazy as if trying to find a piece to a missing puzzle. Penny rolled her eyes and nudged her brother to get him to stop his crazy nonsense. Sometimes it felt like James was always over analyzing everything. It grated on her nerves once in a while. Just like it does at that moment. He just rolled his eyes back at her and again stared at their great-grandfather. "Don't worry Great-Grandfather. I will write to you everyday if you are this concerned about my health."
Penny wanted to keep protesting to keep the chessboard in her great-grandfather’s hands rather than hers and James’s but she doesn’t think he would listen so she didn’t say anything. There was silence for a moment when she saw that her great-grandfather seemed to be distracted. She was going to ask if there was anything wrong when there was a knock on the door. Great-Grandfather Onaris’s face seemed to light up as if he had been waiting for that moment to come for a while now. Curious, Penny set the chessboard on the table next to her and leaned over her brother, who seemed just as curious and was craning his head to get a better look, and saw a man in the doorway.
Penny gasped when she heard her great-grandfather call this man who seemed vaguely familiar to her. Once the man came in she recognized him. David Valentine. She hadn’t seen him in months and it brought a smile to her lips once she saw that she would see him again. Penny would never admit that she has a small liking to David. Of course, she would always view him as an older brother and they seem to get along well. She will never understand her own brother’s dislike towards the man she wishes was her older brother. James had always told her that David seemed to be hiding something grave but Penny just brushed it off. If James didn’t like this family then why was he even in it in the first place. The answer was at the tip of head. ’Because God has a sense of humor and James just had to be part of it.’
Looking towards her parents, she noticed her own father look down at his feet with something like sadness in his eyes. Penny couldn’t tell. She wasn’t a very good people reader. She just goes with what she sees. Her mother on the other hand seemed to be comforting her father by taking his hand and rubbing her thumb across the top of it. Her father put his other hand on top of hers. Penny stared at their intertwined hands. It was the most affection she had seen her parents exchange to one another. James seemed to have noticed that, too and was staring like she was.
Penny looked away from her parents small exchange of affection and gave a wide smile to David while saying, “Yes. All set for tomorrow.” Of course, James didn’t say anything at all. No surprise there but it would be polite to acknowledge the fact that David had, in fact, asked him a question. Wanting James to trust more, Penny held the chessboard to her and sat there in her chair, waiting to see what task her great-grandfather had set for David. David never usually comes around for a friendly visit. There was always a purpose.

Khalid smiled as he said, "Yes that would ease my mind, Penny dear. We can't have you getting unfit now can we?" Khalid had gotten what he wanted.
Khalid returned the hug warmly and noticed the scar on his face. "Son, What happen there?" ,He said worried as he motioned towards the scar. "Are you getting sloppy?" ,Khalid said as he wanted details. Val knew that Khalid hated that he was stuck here on the island while others got to have all the fun. Killing ministry personal was fun. ,Khalid thought with an evil grin.
Khalid was glad when he heard his great-granddaughter read her acceptance letter. She was going to Hogwarts. "How many times have I told you not to answer yuor own door? Let a maid or someone less valuable do that. Safer that way."
"I knew you were coming son." ,Khalid said still smiling at the man that he loved more than his own family except Penny.
"Plus I am not as weak as Daniel might think." ,Khalid said as he showed Val how close to death he had actually come. If it had been anybody else except Daniel, that person would be getting buried now instead of entering his house.
Khalid knew that Penny would be very happy and want to stay when her family decided it was time to became scarse. 'My grandson and his wife at least knows that when Val's here, it is time for them to leave., Khalid thought smiling. This time Penny would like always put up a fight. He knew when she did, he would agree. The heirs to his empire had work to do.
Khalid was going to finally find out if this Tia girl's medallion was the one ripe from his neck or not. With that thought Khalid's hand went for his neck and the faint scar from his own grandfather. He hid nothing from Val including the fact that the medallion he wore was a copy. Val had made it.
The real medallion must never get into the hands of his half-brother Tarik. Khalid wondered if Tarik even knew that their father was murdered. Another birthday present from his favorite adopted son. Looking at where his brother's picture use to be, he laughed as he thought that as soon as he located him, then he would see how much Tarik loved games.
Khalid said with a sly grin, "Son, would you be so kind as to take Penny and James to Diagon Alley tomorrow?" Khalid had other reasons for wanting Val and Penny at Diagon Alley. Tia Andreas and her medallion would be there. It would be the girl's second year. Khalid knew that Val had a score to settle with that family but as he had taught the Dark Shadow scores could be settled in a lot of different ways. Now if only his two favorites would take the hint while he looked over at his grandson with narrowed eyes.

David smiled. "Well, let's just say that I wasn't expecting her to fight back. Even the pros make a mistake every now and again." David flashed back to the knife flashing upward. She missed, but it grazed his cheek. He could have easily gotten rid of the scar, but he left it there as a reminder not to ever get so close to a victim again. "Besides, chicks dig scars."
"Yeah? So what if something happened to me? People know how to extract information from an unwilling subject. They could have come here in my stead. You're not getting any younger." David laughed at his jest. "Don't worry. I know that if there were ever any trouble. You would deal with it swiftly and effectively. Shoot first, question later. That's what you taught me and here I still stand." David patted the gun that could barely be made out under his suit jacket. It hung from a shoulder strap for quick grab, if it ever came to that.
"Well thats great. What year are you entering? Fifth, right?" David smiled as he knew that she wasn't yet that old. Penelope was like his little sister and sometimes it hurt a little to think about the untimely death of his own family. Speaking of family, he could see Penelope's parents sitting beind her. Khalid's grandson, Penelope's father, sat with his head down. Valentine wasn't sure if he relished these moments or felt bad for the man. At least one of his children understood what was going on and he wasn't sure if James resented him for that. Oh well, that was a bridge best crossed when he came to it.
Thanking Penny for getting him his bourbon he turned to Khalid. "Really? That's all you want? After all we've been through-" David stopped as a thought occured to him. Why should he go to King's Cross? Tia will be there. "I'd be more than happy to take Penny and James to King's Cross. I'm taking Rufus there tomorrow also and he'd be more than delighted to see Penny again. To tell you the truth, I think he has a crush on her." David smiled and winked at Penny before turning back to Khalid.
This time his voice was low enough for just the two of them to hear. "Tia will also be there. Could be an oppurtunity to grab the medallion. Or did you have other plans?" He looked into Khalid's eyes and saw him glaring at his grandson. David, too, also turned to glare. "Maybe it is time that you left us. We must speak together."
Penelope Onaris
Penny grew concerned as she saw her “older brother’s” scar on his face. She knew almost anything could happen in the months she hadn’t seen David, especially if he was in the group that her parents were in, but she couldn’t imagine him being hurt. He seemed too tough for it. This is now showing her how wrong she could be about someone’s strength and might. But then she heard that he was just caught off guard and she felt less concerned than she was previously.
“Of course, Great-Grandfather,” Penny said, giving him a smile before setting the chessboard down gently and grabbing her brother’s hand. She knew how much James hated being here and how worried he gets whenever she was gone for a long period of time. He was too protective of her which grated her nerves to no end but she decided to give him a break. She was the one, after all, who begged her parents and James to come that day so she could share her good news with her great-grandfather. Still holding James’s hand, she asked the maid to get both men David’s favorite drink.
She and James came back just in time for them to overhear that David was taking them both to Kings’ Cross the next day. Penny blushed when the mention of Rufus having a crush on her was out. Rufus was probably one of her best friends. She didn’t have many friends but he was probably her favorite out of the friends she does have. Rufus was a flatterer. Penny doesn’t know how many times she’s blushed when she was around him. With her face still somewhat pink, Penny heard her parents talking in low voices about leaving and suddenly she felt the urge to throw her usual tantrum when her parents wanted her to leave with them. Usually she got her way and stayed but with David there, she didn’t know how everything was going to play out.
Sensing her parents and her brother’s faces on hers, she looked them all square in the eye and said in a deadly, but calm voice, “No. I’m not leaving.” While she kept her glare on all three of her family members, Penny noticed her mother sigh and looked at Khalid in a pleading and defeating way. Penny knew how much her mother hated public embarrassment so it was the perfect time to try and get her way. Penny jerked her hand free of James’s feeble attempts to drag her up from her seat and crossed her arms across her chest. Penny’s father on the other hand seemed very upset and said, “Rose, just leave her. You know he wants her here anyway.” Then, her father strolled out the door with sadness in his eyes. Her mother followed him and took James’s hand on her way out. All three didn’t even look at her on their way out or even said good-bye. ’Shows how much they love me,’ Penny thought. But she wasn’t about to cry. She got her way and she would face the consequences later.

Khalid Onaris
At the mention of other plans, Khalid just gave a sly smile. He would not talk in front of his family except Penny. It seemed his grandson realized that it was time to go. After some words from Val, he also knew to leave Penny. One day his grandson would die but not until he had proven to be a threat. He had proven himself weak and Khalid hated weakness. He knew that Val would probably do it when that time came.
Looking over at his sweet Penny, he saw that she had indeed thrown her usual fit and this time she got her way. As Penny's mother left, Khalid gave a look as to tell the woman as long as they kept their part of the bargain then so would he. My grandson and his wife owe me for keeping their secret from my sweet Penny. ,Khalid thought as he realized that they might be useful after all. But not until, we have the girl.
Now with the rest of the family gone he said slyly, "Dark Shadow see to the staff."
Turning to Look at Penny, he said winking at Val, "Penny, You are such a big girl now. It is time you earned this medallion. If you still want it that is?"
Hoping that all the staff was safely contained, he began. Looking at them both he said in a semi-low voice, "Yes, I have plans. Dark Shadow, I want a look at that medallion. We also need to keep her shaken up."
Turning to Val, he said with venom," Shadow, have you found Tarik, yet?" Val knew he didn't want his brother killed yet, just toyed with. Smiling, he knew that his favorite adopted son loved to play with people's heads. Oh, yes he had plans both for the girl and for his brother.
Turning to Penny he smiled rubbing the medallion, "Penny dear, I hope I am right about being able to talk in front of you? You would never betray your Great-grandfather, would you?"
Khalid just hoped Penny played ball or looking at Val with eyes that his son knew all too well, she would have to be encouraged. Khalid loved his family but his head was at stake.
David Valentine
David Valentine recognized that smile on Khalid's face. Something was about to go down and David was to be a part of it as usual. He also watched as the family stood up to leave while Penny threw the tantrum that would leave her here with the two of them. Leaving them ample time to discuss the plans that Khalid had for the following day. The son walked out with his head low and David couldn't help from feeling a little sorry for the man, but only because the man hadn't proven himself. If the man were more useful then maybe he wouldnt have to die. The only consolation David could give him was a quick death, unless otherwise stated by Khalid.
David went off to round up the maid, the butler, and the two cooks and herded them into a room off the main hall way. "You all know the drill." David closed the door behind him and locked it magically. That door wouldn't be opened unless David opened it himself. He returned back to Khalid. "So father, what's the plan?"
David smiled. "I have the best way to go about that. I was thinking about getting Rufus to get to know her more. Get her to trust him and then become our best of chance of snatching the girl later and the medallion. Your thoughts? Oh and as for your brother, I am following some leads that haven't been so fruitful although one of them says he is at Hogwarts. Rufus will be sending me a report soon. And soon that lead will be validated. Do you really think he would expose himself so much?"
David looked at Penny. "She'll do just fine. She is your granddaughter after all. It runs in the family. I have complete faith in her and Rufus. The two of them will make a great pair."
Penelope Onaris
Penny didn’t really understand her great-grandfather’s first words after her family had left, but her eyes lit up at the second set of words that had just been spoken. Ever since she had first heard of the medallion Khalid used to once have, she had been dreaming of having her own. Just to feel like she was special. Sometimes she felt like most of her family preferred her cousin Veronica over her. Well, who wouldn’t? Ronnie was beautiful, smart, courageous and a Ravenclaw. Her mother’s family seemed to be big on having their children land in Ravenclaw. Not only were they descendants of Rowena Ravenclaw, but it was only fitting. Penny was positive that she would never make a good Ravenclaw. She had zero tolerance for reading and doesn’t have the patience to succeed in spells. And not to mention that she’ll zone out whenever anyone was telling her something that just doesn’t interest her. She wasn’t brave or exactly hardworking. So, the only house left was Slytherin. But Penny put her depressing thoughts aside as she smirked at how her great-grandfather would probably be very pleased if she were to wind up in Slytherin. And she was positive that she would.
Who was this Tarik guy? And Rufus was already in on the plan? Now, Penny was feeling more than a little hurt. She would have thought that her great-grandfather would have trusted her more earlier rather than now. Penny was about to ask her questions, but held her tongue. She knew it was rude to just barge in on an elder’s conversation with his chosen person he was speaking to. Her mother had taught her that children should be seen, not heard. Of course, Penny tried to point out that it was such an old saying that had faded a long time ago but Rosalind would have none of it.
Penny was now smiling. Her great-grandfather was actually going to include her in one of his schemes. The thought was making her excited. Sure, she wasn’t the one for much action but she loved being a part of a group or posse and she was thrilled that that group or posse happened to be with the people she admired most. Now was the time to speak given that she had been spoken directly to. Giving Khalid a look of mock horror, she said, “Of course, you can. I would never betray you, Great-Grandfather. What kind of Great-Granddaughter would I be if I were to do so?”
Penny blushed at the mention of Rufus and her being a great pair. Did he mean a great pair as in partners or as something else entirely? Like romantically? Pushing thoughts of Rufus out of her mind, Penny sat up straight and said in a brave, soft confident voice, “I have to agree with him. Though, I think it has skipped over James. As much as I love my brother, I will never understand his disliking of this family. We seem very powerful and influential. Most would kill to have what we Onaris’ have.” And then she smiled over at David and gave a small wink at him. Though he was never going to be an Onaris, he was still an Onaris to her. She wonders if he had been put on the family tree yet. He’s been around a long time and soon settled in like family. He deserved to be up there. Rufus, too.
Khalid Onari
Looking over at Val he said, "Shadow, I want Rufus fully on board this time. I also want to know exactly what that guard Spellman remembers about what happened 10 years ago. The girl hasn’t remembered you yet and that's good.”Khalid had always known there was a possibility that the girl Tia had seen Dark Shadow. If she started remembering and went to Spellman, then he could put a name to the face. That Khalid had no intention of allowing.
Returning his attention back to his plans for the girl, he continued, “Shadow, the guard though he has become a problem. He does know you. You got sloppy back then, that boy should have died." He would not allow one boy to ruin his and Shadow's plans for the girl.
Looking at his adopted son with a determined look he continued, "Find his weakness to keep him quiet or take him out, but deal with him. He can't be allowed to tell what he knows, especially to her. When she starts remembering, she would go to him, won’t she?” For the implanted memories, he planned for her to appear true, Khalid and Shadow had to allow young Tia to start remember, before they could implant the memories.
Khalid still hadn’t decided on if he was going to have Shadow her brother or father. He would talk to his favorite son and let him decide which would be the perfect revenge. The Andreas man had taken his family away from Val now Shadow would do the same and turn young Tia against everything her father and Seth believed in. Khalid started getting that look in his eye, that showed he was very pleased with an idea he just had, he would talk to Shadow about the implant plan privately in his home office after Penny went to bed.
Khalid said to Shadow with a sly look on his face, “We know the girl's weakness, her friends' safety . How can we use that to insure that she is kept shaken up?" He also didn't want those same friends to became a safety net for the girl. "How close is their bond? Can they become a problem? Shadow, you know I don't like problems."
Turning his attention to Shadow’s question concerning his brother, he said with a shrug, “ I have no idea. I haven’t seen my baby brother since he was a baby. He is hunting me though and that has got to end. Since he was raised by that weakling though, he could have.”
Khalid considered every one of the council weak. That included that old Saygar Amon. They had considered learning to be the most important thing. What had their reading of the ancient languages gotten the Medjai? Khalid was a fighter, not a Saygar.
Continuing he said, “ If he is there, then how are you going to persuade him, that hunting me is foolish? You know that I want him by my side or dead. He can’t stand against me.” He hoped that he was not giving Penny the impression that he feared Tarik because he didn’t.
Looking at the Family Tree, he said to Shadow so that Penny could hear, “Because if Tarik ever stands against me, I will have to remove yet another from my tree. Shadow, you are a good teacher. Show my baby brother the error of his foolish loyalty to the old council. Get him to realize that he can’t stand against us.”
Khalid knew that if Shadow found Tarik, his brother's weakness would be found and then the games would begin. Shadow was the best in getting to people’s weakness and then using that weakness to either turn them or destroy them. His brother would join or die, though not before Tarik had been shown just how weak he really was.
“She should Shadow, you and I trained her. It don’t run in all the family, Shadow.” ,Khalid said knowing that Val would catch the reference to Penny’s father and grandfather. Derik’s father had been the one to tell Dawson where Khalid was. Luckily, Val had been watching and immediately told Khalid. Both Dawson and Khalid’s own son were dead within a matter of a half of a hour. It was one of the reasons he did not trust Derik, his grandson was too much like his father.
Turning back to his favorite pupil and adopted son he said with a sly grin, "Son, how much longer are you going to toy with that Auror Seth Wright? I am starting to think you enjoy keeping him alive while he is powerless to stop the attacks. Just remember what I taught you.” Khalid knew that Seth Wright had been the Auror that had planned the Take Down. He also knew that his son for that reason wanted to make that old man to suffer.
Looking at Val, Khalid smiled, "I’ve purchased some land for you to use son." With a sly grin hoping, his son would catch on to part of the plan, "The land is on the Isle of Wright. Speaking of Wrights, when are you going to take out that Squib?"
Looking at both of them, Khalid said devilishly, "Now any ideas how we deal with Miss Tia Andreas?"
David Valentine
David smiled."Well, of course father. Tia would go running straight to the man if she were to remember even my hair color. Seth Wright has already made it clear to her that he wouldn't want to talk about it. The guard is the only one. And to his end? Well, let's just say that he won't be around for Christmas."
"Rufus is going to get me the scoop on how closely the Allies are and I've been thinking. It doesn't matter how close they are now. They need to be further apart. Why not frame them? Rufus can drop a letter into one of their notebooks for class and then make sure she finds it. The letter can be addressed from "Shadow" because we know that she knows the name. She'll be against them for sure. Or at least one. And then Rufus can just keep it up from there."
"Well, I'm still working on it, but I've got a spell in mind that will show him the reality of my namesake of Shadow. He'll get the picture. I'll need somebody to help me though. I'll keep you posted soon as I finish it."
"You know how much I love to play, Father. And don't worry. The squib AND her orphanage will be wiped from existence soon enough. Too bad you can't come out and play too. The fireworks will be amazing."
"You know my thoughts on the subject, Father. Although there isn't much use we could get out of her. I say we kill her and take the medallion. In and out."

(Continued in King Cross Station, Wishing I could Tell Her)
"I knew you were coming son." ,Khalid said still smiling at the man that he loved more than his own family except Penny.
"Plus I am not as weak as Daniel might think." ,Khalid said as he showed Val how close to death he had actually come. If it had been anybody else except Daniel, that person would be getting buried now instead of entering his house.
Penny gasped when she heard her great-grandfather call this man who seemed vaguely familiar to her.
David smiled once again as he set foot inside the Onaris household. He'd forgotten how much he liked being here. As it was, these were some of the few occasions that he smiled. He took in all he could in a moments glance. Penelope holding the chessboard and James looking sullen. David had played Khalid on that chessboard before and he knew how valuable it was to him.
"Penny dear, get your uncle and me his favorite drink.", Khalid said as he realized that he was in fact thirsty.
"Penny dear, get your uncle and me his favorite drink.", Khalid said as he realized that he was in fact thirsty.

Khalid returned the hug warmly and noticed the scar on his face. "Son, What happen there?" ,He said worried as he motioned towards the scar. "Are you getting sloppy?" ,Khalid said as he wanted details.

Killing ministry personal was fun. ,Khalid thought with an evil grin.

Turning to Val, he said with venom," Shadow, have you found Tarik, yet?" Val knew he didn't want his brother killed yet, just toyed with.
David smiled. "I have the best way to go about that. I was thinking about getting Rufus to get to know her more.
Turning to Penny he smiled rubbing the medallion, "Penny dear, I hope I am right about being able to talk in front of you? You would never betray your Great-grandfather, would you?"
David looked at Penny. "She'll do just fine. She is your granddaughter after all. It runs in the family. I have complete faith in her and Rufus. The two of them will make a great pair."
David smiled. "I have the best way to go about that. I was thinking about getting Rufus to get to know her more.
One day he hoped to add David’s name to the tree, With as many lovers and wives I've had, it would not surprise me. I was secretly married to a woman in America, that family had married her to a man that she did not love. Could David be from that marriage? If so, Why Didn’t she tell me? If only I had David’s mother’s name.
Penny was now smiling. Her great-grandfather was actually going to include her in one of his schemes. The thought was making her excited.

David smiled."Well, of course father. Tia would go running straight to the man if she were to remember even my hair color. Seth Wright has already made it clear to her that he wouldn't want to talk about it. The guard is the only one. And to his end? Well, let's just say that he won't be around for Christmas."
Khalid said to Shadow with a sly look on his face, “We know the girl's weakness, her friends' safety . How can we use that to insure that she is kept shaken up?" "Rufus is going to get me the scoop on how closely the Allies are and I've been thinking.

Looking at both of them, Khalid said devilishly, "Now any ideas how we deal with Miss Tia Andreas?"
"You know my thoughts on the subject, Father. Although there isn't much use we could get out of her. I say we kill her and take the medallion. In and out."
