Name: Daniel Cain Marsden
Age: 45 (DOB July 8th)
Blood: Pure-blood
Wand: 15" Ebony and Bocote, Dragon Heartstring Core
Physical Description: Dark brown hair with matching eyes that could frighten Merlin himself. He is a tall man, physically fit and fairly muscular. He gives off an air of prestige and power to those around him, and he is always seen in the finest clothing there is. Had he not turned to a life of a Dark Wizard intent on taking over, many people would mistake him for a powerful, unapproachable business executive.
Personality: Cunning, clever, and cold (though can be pleasant around people he genuinely likes). He is impatient with most of his servants and has low tolerance for subpar work. When someone is foolish enough to cross him, his anger is only matched by his power and skills with a wand; he will readily curse anyone and anything that he feels has disrespected him in some way. He is quite knowledgable, prefering cleverness and wisdom to any other trait.
Likes: Books; history; wizard chess; crossword puzzles; power; gold; fancy and expensive things; all things related to Rowena Ravenclaw; his six friends; his daughter, and being "special".
Dislikes: Opposition; the Ministry of Magic; Joseph Witchard; The Order of the Eight; Desmond Doddridge; Aaron Ackland; Alexis Toomney; unkempt appearances; secrets, and pure-blood supremist.
Family/History: Son of Adam and Eve Marsden, two pure-blood wizards who resided in a London neighborhood until their eventual deaths, Daniel grew up hated by both his father and mother. His father always spoke of his disappointment in his son since the time young Daniel could walk, and anything Daniel tried to do to impress his parents while growing up did nothing but earn him more criticism. His father made it quite plain that he thought of Daniel as a failure, and his mother, who was almost always drunk, encouraged Adam's mental abuse of Daniel. Daniel had no other living relatives and no friends, so he was very miserable for a good many years.
His Hogwarts letter arrived on his 11th birthday. His parents couldn't care less, but Daniel was delighted and wouldn't say no when they expressed their obvious wish to not take him to Diagon Alley, where they were sure they were going to waste gold on school supplies that the boy would never benefit from. They very reluctantly took him, and Daniel was thrilled at all the sights, sounds and smells; he had never been out many places with his parents.
Nervous as he arrived at Hogwarts, but quite keen to get started, Daniel approached the Sorting Hat with curiosity. He was announced as a Ravenclaw after the hat sat on his head for no longer than a few seconds. He joined his fellow House mates as they applauded, knowing that Hogwarts was where he belonged. He vowed to himself that he would create a better family for himself than the one he had so eagerly left behind.
As it turned out, creating a new family wasn't that hard; he met many students in his first year and befriended a lot of them. He was pleasant to everyone, and most everyone was pleasant to him. He spent most of his time studying with his friends, seven of whom he was very close to and came to trust more than anyone. One of those seven, a girl who had been sorted into Ravenclaw the same night as he had been, became his wife much later in life.
In spite of spending so much time with his friends, his marks were quite high. He studied hard on everything, including things that only interested him and wouldn't improve his classwork. He enjoyed reading up on wizarding history, and became very fond Rowena Ravenclaw, the founder of his House and a witch regarded to be one of the wisest sorcerers in wizarding history. He grew very knowledegable in many areas, and as his years at Hogwarts progressed, his teachers told him that he would be able to make his life into anything he wanted.
When he was 14, he came across a very odd myth while reading a very old, very rare history book of European wizarding schools. He asked others around him about the myth, but the book was so old and its information was so outdated, most people had never heard such a legend, let alone take it as fact. Daniel was intrigued by the myth: a myth that told of an ancient society who had lived in the Forbidden Forest when the four founders came to the land and started to construct Hogwarts Castle. His curisosity got the better of him, and a month or so after reading such a ridiculous claim, he ventured out into the forest by himself to look for the truth. The truth found him in the form a strange man with ginger hair, who introduced himself and took Daniel deep into the forest, where more people like himself dwelled. Most of them were glad to see Daniel and welcomed him into their camp, but an older man who turned out to be their leader was angry at his arrival and held the boy with great mistrust. Daniel returned his ill feelings throughout their acquaintenship. He asked the man with ginger hair why this old warlock, who turned out to be named Ess, hated him so much. The man with ginger hair, who turned out to be named Aldo, replied simply "because you're special".
Daniel came to know the group as the Unknowns, and he returned to their territory of the forest often, being happily welcomed by everyone except Ess. It wasn't until later in his education that he brought his girlfriend, Gretchen, to the Unknowns. That was the day he left their camp for good, because Ess was highly affronted that Daniel had brought a Muggle-born before them. He banished both of them from the forest, and despite his request for help from Aldo, Daniel and Gretchen weren't welcome to come back. This is how the Seven was born.
Marsden left Hogwarts with Gretchen and his six best friends after they completed their seventh year. With some of the best N.E.W.T.s Hogwarts had seen for the past 10 years, everyone expected to hear of Marsden becoming something great, whether it be a wealthy business man or a poltician who would eventually become Minister of Magic. But that never happened; he, Gretchen (who was now his wife), and his six friends disappeared out of sight, along with their school records, mysteriously.
Daniel and his friends began to call themselves the Seven. They started growing in number, and commited various crimes in order to fund Daniel's master plan. Everywhere they struck, whether it was a robbery or a muder, they would leave their calling card: a flaming number seven floating in the sky above. The Ministry of Magic didn't consider them a threat at first, but had no success with catching them in the act of a crime or arresting them. Meanwhile, their strength and number grew as they added on to their savings and began to settle into their base of operations.
Now, Daniel Marsden is the most feared Dark Wizard of modern history. There have been a lot of changes since the Seven first started. Gretchen is dead; he has a daughter who knows nothing of their relationship; he has begun his research on wizards, Muggles, and Squibs; the Seven is the largest wizarding crime syndicate in history, and while the Ministry has yet to win a victory over him, there is someone who has: a Hufflepuff who was a few years younger than him in school, who now serves Hogwarts as its headmaster. He looks at the Ministry of Magic and sees it as a joke, but he intent on destroying Hogwarts' headmaster and his little band of wizards who call themselves TOE.
